THEY CANT UNDERSTAND ME

  Lunch was almost over.

Kira was still sitting beside me.

"...Cody, please forget about the past."

  I didn't say anything.

I didn't even look at her.

She stayed quiet for a moment.

Then I heard her voice again, softer this time.

"...I guess you still hate me."

  I still said nothing.

After a few seconds, she stood up and walked away.

  I didn't stop her

  Than.

  The bell rang soon after.

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

I went back to class and sit in my seat.

But I couldn't stop remembering what she said.

  Forget about the past.

How can she say that so easily, couldn't even understand me.?

She wasn't the one who went through it.

  She will never understand.

I looked out the window, trying to clear my head.

  But it didn't work.

  Than

The noise of students returning from lunch slowly filled the classroom again. Chairs scraped against the floor, and people talked as they walked to their seats.

Then I heard a chair move beside me.

  Someone sat down.

I look over and saw it was.

  Mia.

For some reason, my eyes moved before I could stop myself.

  I looked at her.

At the same moment, Mia turned her head slightly.

  Our eyes met.

For a second, neither of us moved.

Her cheeks slowly turned a little red.

I felt my face heat up too.

Both of us quickly looked away like nothing happened.

My heart was beating faster than it should have been.

  What am I doing...?

Why am I looking at the girl who abandoned me back then?

I clenched my hand slightly under the desk.

Memories from the past flashed through my mind.

  Even after all this time...

Somehow I still have feelings for Mia.

Before either of us could say anything—

A voice suddenly came from behind us.

  "Wow... going all lovey-dovey, huh?"

  I froze.

  I slowly turned my head.

John was standing there with that same annoying grin on his face.

  Mia immediately frowned.

  "Shut up, John."

John crossed his arms and smirked.

  "No, you shut up."

Mia leaned back in her chair slightly, clearly annoyed.

  "I said shut up."

  John pointed at her dramatically.

  "No, you shut up."

For a second the two of them just stared at each other.

Then a few students nearby started laughing.

I sighed and rubbed my forehead.

  Seriously...?

The teacher suddenly walked into the classroom.

  "Alright everyone, take your seats."

John quickly slid into the desk behind us.

Mia turned back toward the front, still looking irritated.

The classroom slowly became quiet again.

I leaned back in my chair.

  ...High school is already annoying.
