Chapter 11 - Cheat Characters

Suddenly, a bright mystical light engulfed me. Just like how I entered, my body felt like it was broken into pieces, shattered, before finally forming itself again.

By the time I realized it, I had already exited the Library of Shattered Dimensions. All around me was a familiar place: the hall right in front of the manor’s library.

Aasiah said she wanted to follow me, so I looked around, but she was nowhere to be found.

"Hereee~ here~" a small voice seemed to be calling me.

The voice seemed to be coming from the ground. It was a small and cute doll.

"Mini Aasiah?" I said as I picked her up from the ground.

"It's less eye-catching if I'm in this form instead." She explained before I even asked, as she jumped into my chest pocket.

"Is it fine for the Library of Shattered Dimensions to be left unattended?" I asked her, now that she decided to follow me.

"Don't worry about it. Most of the time there won't be any guests coming there. Besides, my cat is there; she can tell me if something does happen." She said.

"So basically, you're connected to the Library regardless?" I asked her.

"Correct... it's practically my home." She said.

  'Someone's coming.' ROH warned.

Suddenly I could feel a familiar aura, pressuring me to fall. Yet, unlike before, a mystic purple barrier formed to protect me.

Instantly the head butler, Fuhrer the Wrath, appeared in front of me, but not just him.

'Tch, the Executor Shadow Army.' Deed said, sensing other hidden figures. 'We're surrounded.'

Around me, and all around the hall, multiple assassin-like figures appeared wearing red uniforms with hats.

"Wrath." Aasiah the mini doll said as she glared toward the head butler.

"Sloth." Fuhrer the Wrath said with a stern and cautious look. "What's your business here?" He also looked towards me, the one who had Aasiah in my pocket.

"I mean no harm, but your greeting is quite rude towards your senior." Aasiah said, as suddenly all the assassin-like figures turned into all sorts of harmless animals.

"I am now a companion for this honorable one." Aasiah said. "If you mean any harm towards him, I'm sure you know the price you'll have to pay for it." Aasiah also seemed to exude a mystical aura, which caused all the animals around to run away from us as fast as they could.

"Honorable one?" The head butler said as he tried to read and assess me.

But before he even had the chance to, the entire environment around us had already changed into the sky, and I was floating in the sky as if I were still standing in the hall.

The old butler was taken aback and started to fall; however, flame wings appeared on his back, which helped him fly.

"I see, so you won't even let me read his power level." The head butler said with a smirk.

"Even that has a price to pay." Aasiah said. "Haven't I warned you yet?"

"So he's a chosen one. However, this is new..." The head butler seemed to try and assess the intentions of Aasiah the Sloth. "...to be able to move the Sloth to go out of their cave, and even show their face?" The head butler suddenly looked towards me.

"Boy, do you intend to harm the FlameBloods?" The head butler asked cautiously, as if seeing me as a threat.

"You better be careful with what you're going to say next, little bulldog." Aasiah warned the old head butler.

'Little bulldog?!' Deed was somewhat excited by the situation.

"I won't ever harm Erica, or even her family." I said, replying to the head butler.

But suddenly an idea came to me.

This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.

"However, there's a traitor hidden inside the manor right now." I said, which caught the attention of the head butler.

"Traitor?" The head butler seemed to doubt my words. "Who would even dare to cause harm to the family when I'm here?" He said further.

"It seems you've grown old and senile, Wrath." Aasiah suddenly said, backing me up. "Even I could tell instantly: there are plenty of shapeshifters in your manor."

"Shapeshifters?!" Fuhrer the Wrath looked enraged when he heard that. "Those OUTSIDERS!"

"How?! I could not even sense them." Fuhrer said, but he couldn't doubt the words of Aasiah the Sloth, who was also one of the Seven Wise Men.

"It seems you're willing to cooperate now." Aasiah said.

Then she looked towards me with a happy look and said, "As expected of the honorable one."

'Eh? What does she mean by that? What the heck is an OUTSIDER???' I asked my other selves.

'OUTSIDERs, or what they call themselves: PLAYERs.' Deed said. 'Those beings are not from this world, and have been a threat to this world since the ancient era.' He explained further.

'Players? I don't understand, does that mean they have some sort of system, or see this world like a game?' I said, seeing as these tropes seemed familiar to what I used to read.

'That's right. Even all the eldritch monsters that Deed fought in his original world were originally OUTSIDERs.' ROH said, as he knew all the history of this world.

  'Corruption...' Deed muttered.

'Are they like me?' I asked further.

'Not quite, they are from the Shattered Dimensions.' ROH explained further.

'What's the difference between the Shattered Dimensions and different worlds like us?' I asked further.

'Shattered Dimensions are from the same multiverse.' Zeroze said.

'For our different worlds, they consist of different multiverses.' Zeronoz said.

'That's right, however, your soul can only exist in one world, one multiverse.' ROH said.

'I still don't understand.' I said, getting more confused than I originally was.

In the blink of an eye, I was already sitting at a tea table with Aasiah still in my pocket, and the head butler was pouring tea for the both of us.

"Forgive me for my rudeness earlier, I assume you already got an awakening and a lucky encounter inside the Library of Shattered Dimensions, didn't you, boy?" The head butler said politely.

"It is said that the one who was chosen by the Library was fated to be a hero. Fated to prevent the invasion of OUTSIDERs since the ancient era." The head butler said, trying to lighten the mood up. "Those creatures also the ones that created monsters all over the world and prevented humanity from having a peaceful life."

  'Hero?' I asked Deed.

'Basically a hero...' Deed said, shrugging his shoulders.

'No, no, I mean... in your original world, you were supposed to enter the Library later in your life, but since we entered way earlier, won't this change a lot?' I explained.

'Now that you say it...' Deed started to think.

'It seems Deed was always fated to steal someone's fate.' Zeronoz said sarcastically.

'The one that was supposedly chosen this time was Leon FlameBlood!' Deed remembered.

'After the death of young lady Erica, Leon was the one that set the FlameBlood family straight. While everyone else was hellbent on revenge, he's the one that prevented all the pointless killing.' Deed said.

'And further into the future, he was known as a Great Hero, and was titled the Flame Emperor.' Deed said. 'But still... he was a pathetic man... despite having everything in this world that all men ever wish for... he was always depressed and never happy. He kept blaming himself for being weak and not being able to save Erica... but that didn't stop him from his responsibilities though.' Deed reminisced about his old life.

'You seem quite close to him.' I said.

'Perhaps it's because I'm the only one that can understand his pain...' Deed replied.

"Hmph. The honorable one doesn't even need the power granted by the Library." Aasiah said as if bragging, correcting the head butler.

"He rejected it?!" The head butler was shocked.

"Yes, the Library even offered him all 3 choices instead of just 1, but he still rejected it." Aasiah said, bragging further in her mini doll form. "Indeed, he is the honorable one."

'Wasn't she the one that offered me? Why did she say the Library?' I asked my other self.

'The Library of Shattered Dimensions itself is alive and has its own will. The Librarian wouldn't be able to offer you that choice if the Library itself rejected it.' ROH explained.

'I'm not sure what that means...' I shrugged it off.

"Honorable one..." the head butler said. "This is the first time in history anyone has seen you have a high opinion towards another, senior." The head butler said.

However, Aasiah glared at him, as if telling him not to talk about the past.

"Shouldn't we take care of the shapeshifter matters now?" I said towards the two of them.

"Don't worry about it, my men are working on that already." The head butler said. "If it wasn't because of senior's and your help, I wouldn't have had the chance to take care of those rats."

  'That was fast!' I thought.

'It would be much weirder if they were slow with it. These two are already at the peak of this world's power level.' Zeroze said.

A figure instantly appeared in front of the head butler. "Sir, we've caught 5 of the 6 shapeshifters. The last one seems to use a weird skill which causes him to phase through walls." He reported.

"Small matters." Aasiah said. "They won't be able to get out of this manor either way."

"Sorry to trouble you, senior." The head butler said politely, a complete 180 change compared to the first time.

'In every world, power really changes how people treat you.' Zeronoz cackled.

'So... what should I do now?' I said to my other selves, confused that my quests were taken care of now.

'Just enjoy your tea time. Keh heh, this is just what it means to have cheat characters by your side.' Zeronoz said like a true lazy lunatic.

'I see... indeed this is way better than getting my ass beat up...' I couldn't help but ironize that I actually had no complaints, because a comfy life indeed suits me more.
