  “I-I…”

“You, you, you what?! You're stupid! Get out of my forge before I mix your flesh and bones with the weapon!”

“Yes!” The disciple hurriedly walked out of the Forging House with a pale look on his face, his gaze subtly looking at Guo Meifeng and Gu Xuan who entered before he continued running out.

Elder Chen, who had long white beard as if he wasn’t afraid that it was gonna get burned by the fire in the forge, snorted, “Youngsters nowadays don’t know how to learn well! All they know is to move without thinking! Ridiculous!”

Gu Xuan wasn’t very surprised at this type of interaction in places such as the forge so he wore a calm expression on his face, politely smiling towards Elder Chen.

Guo Meifeng noticed Gu Xuan’s calm expression and couldn’t help but admire his demeanor. However, she was after all, a guide, so she then introduced, “This is the 3rd Elder, Chen Feng, an expert at the 3rd Layer of Qi Gathering Realm. He’s our sect’s master blacksmith and also the only one in the continent across 4 great sects. He might act like this most of the time but he’s mostly a grumpy grandfather.”

Elder Chen who was a few meters away from them heard Guo Meifeng’s words and shouted, “Xiao Meifeng! How dare you badmouth me! What do I mean I’m just a grumpy grandfather? Isn’t it because of stupid disciples who think that forging is easy and think that they can simply make it a hobby and they’ll be a master blacksmith like me?!”

Although he complained, Elder Chen didn’t ponder upon it very deeply, seemingly familiar with Guo Meifeng and looked at Gu Xuan who was standing beside her with a polite smile, “Who’s this greenhorn? I don’t remember seeing him before.”

Guo Meifeng simply nodded in agreement and introduced, “This is Junior Brother Gu Xuan, he broke through today so he just went up the mountain earlier. He’s 14 years old.”

Gu Xuan, although he didn’t speak, cupped his fist and nodded towards Elder Chen to acknowledge Guo Meifeng’s introduction.

“14?” Elder Chen turned to Gu Xuan with a hint of amazement in his eyes but then snorted, “What about a 14 year old genius? It comes at least once every 10 years!”

Gu Xuan then replied in agreement, “Yes, my talent is only average. Despite cultivating for more or less 24 hours a day, I was only able to reach this level of cultivation.”

“You what now?” Hearing Gu Xuan’s words, Guo Meifeng was dumbfounded.

Even Elder Chen’s mouth couldn’t help but open wide from what he had just heard.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

‘More or less 24 hours a day? What kind of crazy bastard just climbed up the Central District making light of what he had just achieved?! That’s an entire day!’

Although this was mostly Elder Chen’s thoughts, it coincided with Guo Meifeng’s thoughts so they looked at each other before turning their attention back to Gu Xuan.

Gu Xuan scratched the back of his head, “Did I say anything wrong?”

He couldn’t help but blush slightly from shame, at least, he appeared to be.

Hearing Gu Xuan’s words and realizing that they had lost their composure, they calmed themselves down.

If what he said is true, his talent was indeed average.

Most children would find it difficult to sit for an hour a day to set their stable foundations, that’s why most lower district disciples only break through in their early twenties.

Although his talent was average, his discipline and perseverance was incredible.

Elder Chen coughed, then with his eyes focused on Gu Xuan, he couldn’t help but say with a hint of greed, “If what you said is true, your ability to focus is incredible. How about it, wanna become a student of this old man? I promise, with your ability, even if your talent in forging is mediocre, you’ll become a master forger within 20 years with my instructions!”

Gu Xuan was slightly taken aback by Elder Chen’s sudden invitation but a thought crossed his mind, ‘A master forger huh? I don’t even know what that is but that’s probably not even a Tier 1, a 1 star spirit refiner, or whatever it is called in different kinds of xianxia novels I’ve read in my past life. For ordinary mortals, it might be tempting but to me… it’s simply not worth the time. Especially when I don’t have the lifespan to spare for other paths in the Qi Gathering Realm. The goal is still to increase cultivation realm first to increase lifespan’

Even Guo Meifeng was surprised so he signalled to Gu Xuan to agree, indicating that Elder Chen offering such a thing is rare.

At most, he only takes in part-time forgers from the sect mission to help out every once in a while.

However, Gu Xuan still cupped his fists, “My apologies, Elder Chen but I’ll have to decline your offer. As you’ve said, my talent is only average in cultivation so I can only focus on it for the time being if I want to increase my realm.”

Elder Chen was a little annoyed at Gu Xuan’s rejection of his offer but looking at his earnest and sincere action and words, he could only snort and say nonchalantly with a wave of a hand as he turned around, “If you don’t want to, then don’t. I, Chen Feng, am not the kind of person who forces people. Especially in a position like being my student.”

He then looked back and asked, “Your name is Gu Xuan and you’re 14 years old, correct?”

  “Yes.”

“Wait for a few moments, I’ll make your sect token so you can get out of my forge too.”

  “Thank you, Elder Chen.”

Gu Xuan smiled as he replied, after all, he had observed Chen Feng and judging by his body language, he thought, ‘Looks like this elder is quite kind unlike the stereotypes, he didn’t pursue the matter. Furthermore, although Central District has an elitist mindset, they treat you quite well if you’re one of them. Settling within the sect for the time being to learn martial arts techniques looks like a good idea.’

He also thought about the Sect Master’s Quarters. It was 5 times spiritual qi density! His heart aches knowing that he can’t take advantage of such a good cultivation environment.

But there was nothing he could do, he didn't want to reveal his true cultivation for now when he couldn't even control it properly to defend himself in case something happens.

Guo Meifeng who was on the side, couldn’t help but say with a hint of regret as Elder Chen went away, “How could you reject Elder Chen? Don’t you know that the only person that Elder Chen offered this kind of position to is Senior Brother Wei?”

Gu Xuan then answered, “I really don’t want to divert my attention to other things for the time being."

“Well, you can do whatever you want but don’t expect another offer. Elder Chen might be kind but he’s not the type to offer again and again.”

“Yes, I’m aware that it was a once in a lifetime opportunity but I’d like to focus on cultivation. Thank you for your concern, Senior Sister.”
