Chapter 4

  The Awakening of Determination

As dawn broke, Huang Di emerged from the cave, feeling refreshed after a night of rest. The crisp morning air filled his lungs as he mentally prepared for the challenges of a new day. Yet, as he stepped away from the shelter of the cave, he sensed a subtle shift in the atmosphere. The air was strangely still, and his sharp instincts picked up the presence of imminent danger.

He paused, cautiously scanning his surroundings. The grass bore signs of recent disturbance, and there was an unnatural formation hidden in the ground nearby. His instinct screamed that he had walked into a trap, but he kept his composure, careful not to alert whoever was watching.

Suddenly, laughter and the sound of footsteps echoed from several directions. The first to appear was Young Master Ye Jue, followed by his lackeys, who quickly surrounded Huang Di, cutting off any escape route. Ye Jue wore a mocking smile as he spoke:

"Oh, Huang, you’ve made me work far too hard to find you. Many resources were spent, but now you’re finally in my hands. Any last words?"

Despite the unfavorable situation, his escape blocked, and his enemies greater in number and cultivation, Huang Di remained calm. He looked Ye Jue directly in the eyes and asked, with surprising serenity:

  "How did you find me?"

Ye Jue laughed even harder before replying:

"You don’t even realize it, but the moment you humiliated me by defeating my servant, your death was sealed in my book. Honestly, it turned into a win-win situation. Elder Meng Lu proved useful, I might even speak well of him when I return to the sect. He arranged for me to track your return amulet. And thanks to you, rushing ahead so eagerly, we coordinated with some of my clan members to spawn in the same region. Now you’re like meat on the cutting board."

Huang Di absorbed the information, realizing he had underestimated the cunning of his enemies. Still, he refused to be shaken. Instead, a wave of determination surged within him. He knew he was at a disadvantage, but true strength didn’t come from brute force alone it came from skill, intelligence, and unshakable resolve.

With a defiant smile, Huang Di adjusted his stance and assumed a combat position. He planted his feet firmly, fists clenched, guard high, ready for anything. His eyes burned with an intensity that made Ye Jue hesitate for a split second.

The lackeys, sensing the change in atmosphere, advanced with caution. There were four of them, all at the 4th level of the Profound Rank, and they did not underestimate Huang Di. His muscular, scary frame spoke of experience and battle-hardiness. What they didn’t expect, however, was his speed and precision.

In the blink of an eye, two of the lackeys were bloodied by punches and kicks that moved faster than sound. Huang Di had combined his mastery of the Light Steps Technique, the Sutra of the King, and Muay Thai, forging a unique combat style he called "One with Sound." This style allowed him to break the sound barrier, making his attacks nearly impossible to anticipate.

The two remaining lackeys tried to respond, but Huang Di was relentless. His heavy, rapid strikes prevented them from activating any of their abilities, leaving them disoriented and exposed. Ye Jue, who had been laughing moments ago, now watched in a mix of shock and fury.

Before he could react, Huang Di had already disabled all his men. With one last defiant look at Ye Jue, he turned and vanished into the forest, leaving behind only silence and the seething rage of his would-be captor.

  The City of Boom House

After the intense battle and a desperate escape, Huang Di knew he needed a plan to shake off his pursuers. The technique One with Sound had been effective, but its Qi consumption was far too high to sustain for long. In just a few seconds of use, it had drained 30% of his Qi, and a prolonged battle could leave him in a critical state. He needed a quick and effective solution.

As he ran, he weighed his options. The first was to discard the return amulet, but the idea unsettled him. That amulet was his only guarantee of returning to his world losing, it would mean being trapped in the Small Dimensional World for a century. Still, he knew that if he didn’t get rid of it, his enemies could easily track him.

A few kilometers away, Ye Jue was venting his fury on his subordinates.

"You idiots!" he roared, his voice echoing through the clearing. "How did you let him escape? You made me look like a fool in front of that worm!"

His servants stood silently, heads bowed low.

"Zero One," he called, turning to the Ye Clan’s tracker a man with a cold and calculating demeanor. "What’s the update on the tracking?"

Zero One, expressionless, replied, "Young master, he appears to still be on the move. It doesn’t seem like he’s discarded the amulet."

Hearing that, Ye Jue gave a cold smile.

"Hmph, looks like you dogs have one last chance to be useful. Go and bring me his corpse. Don’t return without it."

The four servants, heads even lower now, nodded silently and set off with Zero One. Ye Jue remained behind with a few others, some of them cultivators at the Earth Rank. With that kind of power, he was confident he could finally capture Huang Di and recover the return amulet.

With a resigned sigh, Huang Di knew he had to take the risk. He stopped in an isolated area, buried the amulet, and marked the spot with symbols from an ancient script few could read. He hoped it would be enough to fool his pursuers and that he could recover it when it was safe.

With a heavy heart but determined spirit, Huang Di resumed his escape. He ran for hours until, finally, he spotted a city in the distance. The sign at the gate read Boom House, and he knew he needed a place to rest and strategize.

Upon entering the city, Huang Di was immediately struck by its chaotic, vibrant energy. The streets were packed with people of all backgrounds, each with their own stories and agendas. He noticed many looked worn and exhausted, as if drained by some invisible force. Yet others seemed powerful and well-guarded, exuding an aura of authority that set them apart.

The city of Boom House was a place of stark contrasts. Its streets bustled with merchants hawking everything from mundane mortal items to rare treasures worth small fortunes. The cultural diversity was astounding some wore plain clothes; others dressed in exotic and flamboyant styles.

As he walked through the main street, a bulletin board caught his attention. Two posters stood out. The first displayed a blonde woman with a six-tailed fox, whom he immediately recognized as the mysterious blonde demoness. The poster offered a generous reward for any information about her whereabouts. The second promised a similar reward for two Rank 5 beast hearts; the exact same hearts Huang Di had taken.

  Huang Di narrowed his eyes.

"So, she’s here too," he thought, recalling the enigmatic woman he had seen at the Golden Crane Sect.

He knew he had to tread carefully. Her presence and her bounty could complicate his situation even further.

Determined to gather more information, Huang Di entered a noisy, crowded place where people from all over gathered to share stories and news. He chose a quiet corner and ordered a drink, listening intently to the chatter around him. He needed to intel on the city, on the demoness, and most importantly, on how to evade his trackers.

As the conversations swirled around him, a plan began to take shape in his mind. He knew time was short. Ye Jue and his men would be on his trail again soon.

With a confident smile, Huang Di resolved that no matter what the obstacles, he would find a way to survive and thrive in the city of Boom House.

  Rescue in the Shadows

Huang Di was sitting in a discreet corner of the tavern, watching the movement on the street through the window. The city of Casa Boom was a vibrant but dangerous place, and he knew he had to stay alert. While sipping a drink, his eyes caught sight of a group of young ladies walking down the street, accompanied by a few city guards. They were from an influential family, dressed in elegant clothes that highlighted their noble origins.

The ladies laughed and chatted, unaware of the danger that was drawing near. Huang Di noticed a group of men with ill intent following them discreetly. He recognized the threat immediately but decided to observe a moment longer, assessing the situation. The guards accompanying the women were in the early stages of the Profound Rank, while most of the suspicious men were in the higher stages of the same rank. One of them, a man with a scar near his eye, was at the first level of the Earth Rank, clearly the leader of the group.

The scarred man, with a sadistic grin, licked his blade and said:

“Mio Hio, I told you that you’d be mine. Now you’re surrounded by these shrimps who can’t protect you. What will become of the Miu family if their daughter falls into disgrace? Your young master is crippled, and your Sky Rank ancestor, who upholds the family, is hiding. No one knows if he’s even alive.”

Huang Di felt a mix of rage and bitterness this kind of situation was common in the cultivation world. But to him, who had recently grown up in an orphanage among mortals, it soured his mood. Then he saw the beauty of that young woman named Mio Hio a fiery beauty, with hairlike flames but without warmth. Soft, pale skin, adorned with fine ornaments that revealed her nobility in such a chaotic city.

Now confronted by a worthless bandit, the sense of danger stirred something within him, not only concerning the girls but also indignation at seeing a wild beauty captured by a frog from the bottom of the well. It was unacceptable. To him, only he could claim the beauties of this world those in plain sight and those still hidden anywhere his eyes could covet.

He knew he needed to act, but also that strategy was key. The disparity in power was significant, and he couldn’t face the kidnappers head-on. However, he had skills that could turn the situation in his favor.

As the kidnappers surrounded the ladies, Huang Di quickly slipped into an alley. He applied a disguise technique, transforming himself into an older Taoist monk bald, but still muscular. He put on a white robe and began following the group discreetly, keeping a safe distance and concealing his aura to avoid detection.

The kidnappers, confident in their superiority, didn’t realize they were being followed. They split into three groups at a predetermined point: one taking the women east, the scarred man heading north, and another group going west. Huang Di thought for a moment but decided to follow the group with the women, realizing they were the main target.

After a few minutes, when the other groups were out of sight, Huang Di saw his chance. He shouted: “Kidnappers! Danger! Help!”

His voice echoed across the rooftops, startling the kidnappers and waking the girls from their fainted state. The young women, initially disoriented, began to struggle, making it harder for the kidnappers to control them.

One of the men, annoyed by the interruption, handed the girl to another henchman and charged at Huang Di. He leapt from a rooftop, releasing his energy and revealing his cultivation: fifth level of the Profound Rank. With a swift movement, he shot toward Huang Di, aiming a punch at his chest.

Huang Di, with his sharpened senses, reacted in milliseconds. He caught the man’s arms and, with precise technique, broke them. The man collapsed to his knees, crying in pain. Meanwhile, the other kidnappers realized the situation and tried to intervene, but Huang Di was relentless. He moved with speed and precision, incapacitating them one by one.

The ladies witnessing the scene couldn’t believe what they were seeing. Huang Di, with a smile on his face, ended his brilliant victory with a cryptic remark:

  “Daddy’s here. Amitabha.”

The Encounter with the Mio Family

With the immediate danger averted, Huang Di knew he had to act swiftly, but with caution. He turned to the young ladies, who were still visibly shaken, and asked in a calm voice:

"Ladies, are you able to run on your own, or do you need help?"

The women, still stunned by what they had just experienced, exchanged glances before returning their attention to the man who had rescued them.

One of the maidens, Sara slender, with a generous bust, platinum blonde hair, pale skin, and dressed in light garments adorned with fake jewels spoke bluntly:

"And how can we trust you? With that appearance... how do we know you’re not just another bandit trying to take advantage of us? Or worse, part of the whole scheme yourself?"

Huang Di, feeling a flash of irritation, clenched his fist but took a deep breath, reminding himself of the importance of composure. Before he could respond, Mio Hio, the young mistress, stepped forward:

"How many times must I tell you, Sara, not to judge people by their looks?"

She scolded her with a sharp glance, then turned to Huang Di with a look of gratitude mixed with curiosity.

"I apologize on her behalf. May I ask the name of the one who saved us?"

Sensing the need to remain discreet, Huang Di chose to use an alias:

  "You may call me Raizan."

Mio Hio nodded, relief softening her expression.

"Raizan, I believe the most important thing now is to leave this place and inform my family about what happened. This must be a trap set by rival families trying to destabilize us. They’re always looking for ways to strike."

"We need to return home immediately. And I’m certain my family will offer a proper reward for your service. We do not like owing favors."

Though reluctant to accept a reward, Huang Di realized that refusing could raise suspicions.

"Very well. I’ll accompany you until you’re safe," he replied. "But not for a reward, merely for good karma. Amitabha."

Sara, still skeptical, narrowed her eyes.

"You’re a monk?" she asked. "Because ever since you appeared, your eyes haven’t exactly looked... restrained."

Maintaining his composure, Huang Di answered:

"No, I am not a saint. But I do seek to accumulate good karma. Amitabha."

His answer didn’t convince Sara, who continued to eye him with suspicion.

Huang Di, though unfamiliar with the family dynamics of the city, sensed that the situation was more complex than it appeared.

"I understand," he said. "Let’s move quickly. The sooner you’re safer, the better."

Sara remained wary but kept her doubts to herself as the group began moving swiftly toward the Mio family estate. Huang Di led the way, with the others following in silence, each lost in their own thoughts.

Their silence was broken when Mio Hio spoke again:

"Sir Amitabha, we’re supposed to go this way." She pointed in the correct direction.

With a calm expression, Huang Di replied:

  "Yes. Amitabha."

  And he adjusted his course.

As they approached the mansion, the ladies began to feel more confident and at ease in Huang Di’s presence. Mio Hio felt gratitude and growing curiosity about the man who had saved them. She decided that, once they were safe, she would ask her father to offer him a proper reward, perhaps even invite him for a longer conversation.

However, as they neared the estate, they were surrounded by family guards emerging from all directions. The family butler, noticing the disheveled appearance of the young ladies and the presence of an unknown man, immediately took a defensive stance.

"What is going on here?" he asked, eyeing Huang Di warily.

Before tension could rise further, Mio Hio stepped forward and explained:

"This man saved us from a group of kidnappers. He brought us back safely."

The butler, still cautious, scanned Huang Di from head to toe before slowly nodding.

"Very well. Let’s go inside and speak with the head of the family."
