  If you have been here before, you might notice some significant updates. I have spent a lot of time refining this world and its characters, and I wanted to make a few notes on what has changed:

  1) A New Title: The story has been retitled from Kaela to The Final People. I feel this new title better reflects the scope of the world and the high stakes for the scavengers, the Ponu, and the Dowath alike.

  2) Major Content Updates: Not just minor corrections for typos. I have made substantial additions to several chapters to deepen the lore and enhance the emotional experience. If you are a returning reader, I highly recommend revisiting the Prologue and Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 16, and 18, as these contain the most significant new content.

  Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

  3) Completion Status: The story is now officially marked as Complete. Both Book 1 and Book 2 are fully uploaded. While this marks the end of the current arc, I have already written the first seven chapters of a potential Book 3, which I may return to in the future!

  Oh yes, one final note. If the world feels lived in, it's because it has been. Another story I wrote called "The Geeryo Project" shares the same world as this one. But don't worry, I wrote "The Final People" to be independent, i.e. you don't need to have read "The Geeryo Project" to enjoy "The Final People". In fact, because of the nature of this story, I'd say it's best if you don't read "The Geeryo Project" before reading this story as many of the mysteries are explained in that story.
