R47 discussed its abilities to the other eye to the best of its ability, and vice versa. Both eyes had [Of Eyes], [Weak Telepathy], [Demon], and [Tier 1 Demonic Claim 1]. However, R50 had [Earthen Eye 1] instead of [Weaving Eye 2]. While R50 was demonstrating its ability to summon pebbles and control them, R47 laid on the ground.
[Would you like to claim your demonic spoil from R36?]
R47 was stunned. R36? But why now? R47 looked around. It noticed the two areas near its egg where there were the corpses of its foes—a bunch of crystal shards, two wings and a globular mass—were laying on the purple grass. One of the areas was much more spread out than the other. R47 happened to brush one of the shards from the smaller area with its wings as it was settling down.
R50 noticed that R47 was distracted, and quickly flew down the ground next to R47. Threat? R50 queried.
No, I learn new skill use. R47 decided to accept the prompt.
[Which skill would you like to claim? [Fire Eye 1]]
R47 wondered why this was a choice and chose [Fire Eye 1].
[Skill claimed: [Fire Eye 1]]
[[Fire Eye 1]: You can emit mana infused fire from your eye. You can use your mana to manipulate fire.]
[Claim resonance. [Tier 1 Demonic Claim 1] has absorbed R36’s [Tier 1 Demonic Claim 1] and has tiered up.]
The left overs of R36’s body burned in a purple demonic flame and the smoke rushed into R47’s core. R50 flapped away, startled. R50 did it again after seeing R47’s eye. Your eye… changed. Not black, red black. R47’s eye was now a swirling mix of red and black, but R47, not being able to see its own eye, thought R50 meant purple.
R47 quickly ran to the other body, and used [Tier 2 Demonic Claim 1].
[Skill on cooldown: 587 hours, 59 minutes, and 56 seconds.]
Ten-six-tens?!? HOURS!??!! R47 just lay still. But I want gift!
[Skill on cooldown: 587 hours, 59 minutes, and 53 seconds.]
R47 somehow slumped even more. R50 was concerned, and distanced itself from R47. Foe? Ill gas? Mind shriek? Lens crack? Sleep?... R50 continued asking whether R47 was suffering every imaginable ailment, most of which R47 didn’t even understand. R47 interrupted. I’m… fine. I must wait, then gift. But not now. R47 got up sluggishly. As it looked around it noticed the number in the sky had reduced to ‘63/10’. It also noticed another Demon Eye approaching. It was a mix of purple and yellow with wings that seemed to be invisible, only distortion where they should’ve been. Somehow R47 knew the wings were those of a Spatial Sprite’s.
The purple and yellow eye connected to R50 and R47. Free levels waiting for me? My power will subsume yours. Somehow it was just as verbose as R36. R50 immediately flew away, then paused when it noticed R47 wasn’t following it. Friend run; foe strong! R47 ignored R50 and threw a fireball at the strong one. The strong one released a ray of light. Where it hit, reality seemed to be hit with twenty short ranged teleports for a moment. The fireball was quickly dispersed and the light hit R47. R47’s lens was spatially separated, spread out to the surrounding area. Then the light hit R47’s core. In a panic R47 shot out the thickest thread it could manage. It shot out blocking the light for a few brief moments. Then the light stopped and R47 heard a cracking shattering sound.
[Your party has slain foe: Demon Eye R86 level 3. Experience earned.]
[Skill [Weaving Eye 2] has leveled up once.]
[Thresholds met: leveling up. Level 1 -> 3. Free stat points available.]
A light radiated R50 and R47 from all around. R47 felt a wellspring of power that was quickly dissipating in its core. As the energy dissipated it fixed most of the damage that wracked R47’s body, however R47’s lens was still cracked and in desperate need of recovery. R47 looked at its stats, and immediately put two of its six free points into vitality.
Deciding to keep with its strengths of speed and mana expenditure R47 put one stat into wisdom, intelligence and dexterity. With the final stat they tried to put it into luck, only to receive a failure notification.
[Luck cannot be increased by stat points.]
More locked gifts? R47 decided to put the remaining stat into dexterity.

The final cracks on R47’s lens started healing at a visible, if slow, speed. With that it could finally start to see what happened: R50 was laying next to R47, seemingly spent; the largest pebble, nearly a rock, that R47 had ever seen R50 summon was laying next to R86’s corpse; and R86’s corpse was laying there. R47 also noticed the number in the sky had decreased by one. R47 quickly connected to R50 and was surprised by the telepathic clarity from both eyes. R50 are you life on- I mean, living?
R50 looked at R47. I leveled! My thoughts run. Speech works! Your voice is loud.
R47 paused thinking. Can we gift com- conte… R47 stopped and slowly continued. com-plex words, from level or stats?
R50 stared at R47. I don’t know, I put most stats in strength. I put the other two-ones in enduri- endurance, and wisdom.
R47 thought—R50 didn’t sound louder, but R47 did. R50 didn’t put stats into intelligence, but R47 did. Intelligence increases brute control of mana. Wisdom increases fine control of mana. Telepathy costs a little bit of mana. Wisdom must increase their ability to convey thoughts with telepathy—while R47’s thoughts weren’t as concise they concluded the same.
In the time it took for the eyes to figure out the reason for each other’s eloquence, R47’s lens fully healed. However both were exhausted and continued to lay there.
Hey R50. The brown eye swiveled to stare at R47. I would’ve died. Thank you. R47 said, trying to think of a gift for the other eye.
We are allies, we save each other. R50 answered simply.
R47 finally remembered a satisfactory gift. Also I have a gift of knowhed- knowledge for you.
R50’s eye widened. What?
R47 felt satisfaction when it realized that this would be a perfect gift. Go touch R86’s corpse, it’ll grant a gift.
R50 slowly flapped up and over to the pile of crystal shards and globule mass, a bit wobbly from mana deprivation. When it landed R50 paused for a couple seconds then mentally shrieked: [Spatial Eye] or [Light Eye]? R47 felt even more satisfied before R50 continued. Neither these- of these would allow R86’s ray. How did it do it? R47 immediately felt confused; R50 was right. Assuming the [Spatial Eye] and [Light Eye] had the same bases as R47’s abilities, then they couldn’t have done what they did. Deciding to reread its own ability, it opened [Weaving Eye 3]’s window.
[[Weaving Eye 3]: You can emit mana infused silk from your eye. Can use your mana to manipulate thread.]
After rereading over and over, a certain phrase stuck out to R47– “mana infused.” [Weaving Eye] turns mana into silk. [Fire Eye] turns mana into fire. What if. R47 did something that could’ve very well killed it if it was wrong. It casted both [Weaving Eye] and [Fire Eye], at the same time. Instead of the fireball blowing up from hitting the silk, the silk absorbed the unformed fireball. The shot out silk was flaming. R47 quickly had to fire out the other end before it cooked itself. It wasn’t just burning away but actively producing flame. That was, until after the bit of mana invested in it from its creation ran out, and it was just silk.
R50! You can gift a skill with another’s power!
R50 was already watching R47 because of the glowing of its fire. How? R50 wondered.
Use both. Same time. R47 explained.
R50’s eye went unfocused as it looked at the system notification. Because both eyes still had a mental link R47 heard as R50 proclaimed: [Light Eye]! Immediately, R50 was releasing a light that on impact started growing a thin film of stones on whatever it hit.
It wasn’t that impressive, or at least, it wasn’t until R50 used the stone to rip out the grass it was growing on. The stone wasn’t just growing on top of the material it hit, but growing and connected to and from it. R47 voiced its impression of the stone growth light: Scary.
R50 looked at R47 while responding, still emitting the light. Yea- R47!
The light had already grown a thin layer of stone on R47. R50 turned off its light. Luckily the stone seemed to be a foreign object to R47’s new vitality of three, so was quickly disconnecting from R47’s lens and wings. With a bit of force the thin film cracked and fell away. R47 glared at R50, and shot out a thin line of silk at it.
Sorry! Not will! Accive- accident! The eyes continued to play until nightfall.
*
After both were exhausted, the eyes were watching the sky, it read “46/10”. So many spots.
Yeah and the three big ones, gift so much light.
So pretty.
Yeah.
Eventually they stopped the star gazing and started observing the other eyes in the valley. That red eye– fight blue eye. R50 noted. The scuffle was a couple eggs away.
We gift aid? Or let the weak die? R47 wondered while watching the blue eye dodge attacks of heated coals the red eye was firing.
R50 flapped up and said: May be a new friend. We help.
As the allies flew over to the fight, each noticed that the blue eye either couldn’t or wasn’t attacking with an eye skill. When it saw them its pupil dilated and it connected to them. Before it could speak, R47 spoke. Do you need aid? We’re friends, we gift aid.
The eye suddenly perfectly dodged another hot coal and said: I got this, more XP if done alone. It was just as eloquent as R47 and R50.
Just like how R47 knew what wings everyone had, it also knew that what the blue eye said was true. The friendly eyes let the red and blue eyes fight each other. No matter what the red eye did, the blue eye seemed to be able to see it beforehand.
Eventually, the red eye suddenly started flapping weakly. R47 recognized mana deprivation. The blue eye rushed the red eye’s right wing sending it to the ground, towards a rock. The red eye hit, its lens shattered and it died. R47 was the only eye who noticed the number in the sky decrease by one.
The blue eye turned to them. You friends, correct?
