Chapter 35.4: The Ancient Evil’s Awakening

The White Wolf Yao King (SS-rank, Lv. 910) stirred from his deep slumber. For ages, he had manifested clones—the Spirit White Wolves—to carry out his will across the lands. When his Shrine of Victory was destroyed, a seal was broken, threatening to release a fragment of the Ancient Evil God (SS+-rank, Lv. 999).

Initially, the Demon King did not restore the seal immediately. Instead, he allowed a dark cult to establish a base upon the ruins of his former shrine. He watched them grow, even shielding them from those who sought to dismantle the organization. His motive was grimly educational: he wanted the new Human Race to witness the catastrophic consequences of desecrating his shrines. In this modern era, humans were skeptical; they would only believe in the danger once they saw the horror with their own eyes.

Although the plan initially proceeded smoothly—with hundreds of thousands of undead annihilated—a new nightmare emerged: a hundred-meter-tall Giant Undead (S-rank, Demon King class). This monstrosity was nearly immune to both physical strikes and magic. The White Wolf King had hoped the Black Flames would consume it, but the flames acted unpredictably. Instead of destroying the giant, the Black Flames incinerated the surrounding demonic and ghostly miasma, effectively "tempering" the creature. Its body grew harder, its magic resistance soared, and its stature continued to tower even higher.

Beneath the earth, the King had successfully eliminated the Black Demon Wolf General (A-rank), closed the Demon Gates (A-rank) from other worlds, and purged the Ghost Realms (A-rank). Yet, total victory remained elusive. The Giant Undead moved with increasing fluidity and precision, its strength peaking during the dead of night.

With no other choice, the White Wolf Yao King reached out to his peers for reinforcements:

  1. White Deer Yao King (SS-rank, Lv. 960): Guardian of the North. He seals the head of the Ancient Evil God amidst eternal ice. With tens of millions of followers providing a constant stream of Merit, his seal remains flawless, leaking not a trace of malice.

  2.
  3. White Lion Yao King (SS-rank, Lv. 940): Guardian of the West. He watches over an arm of the Evil God. Supported by tens of millions of devotees, his seal is exceptionally stable.

  4.
  5. White Phoenix Divine Bird (S+-rank, Lv. 850): Guardian of the East, sealing another arm. This is the domain of Vong Tran (Celestial Master Truong). While the Celestial Master clan possesses immense Merit, their population is sparse—less than ten thousand. To compensate for the lack of collective faith, the Divine Bird must sacrifice its own cultivation to maintain the seal, causing its level to stagnate and even regress.

  6.
  7. White Elephant Earth King (SS-rank, Lv. 980): A thousand-meter titan guarding the South, sealing the Evil God’s legs. He is worshipped by a hundred million "Small-folk" (humans under one meter tall) who live upon his back and the surrounding lands. However, a curse has clouded his mind for centuries, forcing him to wander aimlessly. His movements have carved the land into a hundred-meter-deep lake, with the seal resting on a central island.

Because the White Elephant King was lost to the curse, his massive pool of Merit lay dormant. The seal was on the verge of collapsing, and the resulting miasma had forced all inhabitants to flee.

After centuries, the five guardians finally connected through a shared Divine Consciousness. They were shocked to find that their strongest member, the White Elephant, was incapacitated. They realized that nearly half of the Evil God's seals were compromised. Most critically, the central seal held by the White Wolf had been breached, allowing escaped malice to flow directly into the Giant Undead, fueling its rapid evolution into a Demon King.

The White Deer King, occupied with his duties in the Council of the Seven Great Races and the maintenance of the newly formed Yao Race (Yêu t?c) floating islands, could not leave his post. The White Lion King was also tied down, planning a southward expedition to heal the White Elephant; he believed that if the Elephant King regained his senses, they would triumph even if the Evil God were fully resurrected.

"We have an alliance with the Seven Great Races," the White Deer King projected. "I will contact them to see who can assist. We don't need an immediate victory—we only need to buy time until the White Elephant awakens."

The White Wolf King sighed and accepted.

The response from the other races was immediate. The Dragon Race dispatched the White Winged Dragon (S+-rank, Lv. 850), accompanied by two messengers of the Dragon King: the Golden Dragon and Green Dragon (both S-rank, Lv. 701), both allies of the Little Hoang Kingdom. The Buddhist Clan sent the Laughing Buddha (S+-rank, Lv. 801), and the Asura Clan sent the Four-Armed God of Slaughter (S+-rank, Lv. 888). Representing the Immortal Race and the Celestial Master Sect, Seven Star (S+-rank, Lv. 899) arrived, followed by Nine Star (S+-rank, Lv. 899), Sect Master of the Profound Ice Sect, along with his disciples.

The leaders met in a spiritual dimension to coordinate the suppression of the Evil God and negotiate the spoils of war.

The White Wolf Yao King, despite having tens of millions of followers in the West Wolf Kingdom and dozens of smaller protectorates, had to pay a steep price for this aid. He agreed to allow the other races to build shrines and sects within his territory. Furthermore, he committed to acting as a "Dharma Guardian"—a protector for these new religious institutions. In one stroke, the White Wolf shifted from being the absolute sovereign of the land to a mere gatekeeper for external faiths.

With the Wisdom Eye of the Buddha Clan, the Divine Eye of the Immortal Race, and the Slaughter Eye of the Asuras, the coalition began a relentless sweep of the West Wolf Kingdom. Dark cults and necrotic organizations were exposed instantly. A massive, hidden ritual array spanning multiple small nations was revealed, as was the hiding spot of the Ancient Evil God’s soul fragment.

The coalition moved with divine authority. Led by the White Wolf King, they descended upon the cults, manifesting radiant halos and overwhelming power. To the terrified populace, they appeared as saviors, prompting many to convert to these new religions. The dark organizations, which the White Wolf had allowed to grow "fat," were now being slaughtered like lambs for the glory and reputation of the intervening gods.

At the heart of the battlefield, the tide turned. As the ritual arrays were dismantled, the Giant Undead’s growth halted. Realizing he could no longer hide, the Soul of the Evil God initiated a desperate total offensive to create an escape route for his high-ranking zealots.

The Soul dived into the Giant Undead. The creature warped and mutated instantly, ascending into a Demi-Evil God (S+-rank, Lv. 899). With a guttural roar, it summoned a legion of stone golems, lashing out in a frantic bid to shatter its remaining shackles.

The Tower of the Demi-Evil God

Immediately after, the Demi-Evil God sat cross-legged. He severed his own arm, tempering it with Black Fire and Alchemy to forge a scepter. With a sweeping gesture, he gathered every shattered crystal shard from the battlefield, fusing them into a glowing emerald orb atop the staff. Finally, he rounded up the wandering souls haunting the vicinity. Using his Black Fire, he incinerated their emotions and individual egos, reducing them to pure, sentient essence—intelligence without empathy.

He forced this collective consciousness into the weapon, transforming it into a Great Scepter over a hundred meters tall. It hovered beside him like a silent sentinel. With the combined intellect of hundreds of thousands of souls, it functioned as an Artificial Intelligence (AI) system, tasked with calculating and managing the demonic energy surging from the earth, monitoring the consumption rate of the Black Fire, and solving complex spatial trajectories to create escape routes for his cultists.

Stored within the Evil God’s soul was the knowledge of thousands of spells and advanced, alien technologies. Guided by the Great Scepter’s calculations, he executed a grand design. A colossal tower, stretching ten thousand meters into the heavens, erupted from the ground. It vacuumed up the earth and thousands of devotees from the surrounding orthodox sects, holding them hostage within its walls. He demanded the Great Sects release his own followers in exchange. For an Evil God, followers were the lifeblood of immortality; as long as a single soul remembered him, he could never truly perish.

A booming voice resonated from the tower, echoing across the lands to every race: "You hypocrites! Release my disciples at once, or I shall annihilate every last one of yours!"

This move struck directly at the loyalty of the believers both inside and outside the tower. If the Great Beings abandoned their followers, the loss of faith would instantly sever the flow of Merit—the divine energy that sustained the Gods. Yet, letting these heretics escape meant sowing seeds of future calamity, especially with a target as volatile as this Evil God. Paralyzed by indecision, the gods' crusade slowed significantly, buying the cultists precious time to vanish.

Onlookers were horrified by the tower's bizarre architecture. It teemed with strange, gelatinous creatures—the octopus (White Race) encased in biological suits or steel armor. These suits were humanoid in shape, controlled by the creatures nesting within the "head" of the armor.

Laughing Buddha, sensing the Evil God was an outsider who knew nothing of this world’s laws, attempted to guide him toward transcendence. He hoped to persuade him to take refuge in the Buddhist Sect, resolve his karmic debts, and ascend beyond the mortal plane. He sang his sermon in a haunting melody:

"Clinging to desires, joy turns to boundless woe. Seek not the Pure Land with a heart of stone. Sowing sorrow only leads to deeper falls. With debts of gratitude and seeds of hate, when shall liberation come? Lay down your burdens, and leave the mortal coil behind."

The Evil God, baffled by the flowery metaphors of the Buddhist Sect, bellowed back from the tower: "I have nothing to repent! I have done no wrong! They struck a bargain with me—sold their souls and bodies for talent, power, and wealth. What I do with what I bought is my business! Why do you persist in calling me an 'Evil God'?

Why are you so biased toward humans? If I did this to beasts, birds, or dragons, would any of you utter a word? A contract made must be a contract kept!"

Seven Star, listening from a distance, muttered, "What kind of entity is this? Why is he so stubborn and incomprehensible?"

Nine Star shook his head. "He is an entity that predates us by nearly two thousand years; there is no record of him. I must return to my wife, the Celestial Lady (the Great Prophet) to uncover his origins."

Seven Star nodded. "Good. I will seek out M?c Y (the Great Prophet) for counsel. Then, we shall reconvene to plan the tower’s destruction."

"And the cultists?" Nine Star asked.

"Let them flee for now," Seven Star replied coldly. "We will plant tracking seals on them. We can cull them whenever we please."

  "Agreed."

While each race prepared its own solution, the White Wolf Yao King finally emerged from his cavern after a slumber lasting centuries. Realizing he could no longer rely solely on his allies, he decided to take the field himself, flanked by his four S-rank Arch-Druids (Level 810).
