A Gold Coin

  (Samuel's POV)

I pulled out another coin from the coin purse, "Hm." I said, "Interesting."

I looked at it, seeing that she was right; one side had a crown of thorns while the other had the face of the Queen without the crown. I never really paid attention to it when I was given the gold.

Why would they have two different types of gold coins printed? Is it to keep tabs on their gold? Maybe that is the case, to make sure that someone would know if they got robbed.

Now, the question was why would Rok'gul give this to me if he knew that this could cause problems down here.

Well, I shouldn't act so stupid; it was to cause the issue. Maybe this is some sort of test, wasn't it? Those crafty bastards from atop.

The woman walked up to me, "You have more?" She asked, "Where did you get those coins?"

"Hm." I put the coin back in the bag, putting it away, "Well, I can't really say, can I?"

Her face hardened, "If you stole it from of the Dread Lords, that will not be good for us." She said softly, "I need you to tell me the truth. Perhaps the two of us can get out of this unharmed."

"These Dread Lords." I said, "Are they dangerous?"

"They are the ones in charge of the Capital, governing over it as extensions of Her Majesty, Queen Asothia." She said, "The Midnight Legion don't usually involve themselves with such matters. The Dread Lords rule with an iron fist, keeping everything under control. If someone stole from them, then they will act accordingly."

"I didn't steal from anyone." I said, "The Orc gave this to me."

"Orc?" She asked with a frown, "What Orc?"

"The one from the Castle." I said with a shrug, "That fool, Rok'gul."

"You're speaking of one of the Legion Commanders? Rok'gul?" she asked, "You say you were in Castle Amara?"

  I nodded, "That is right?"

She gulped, "I have lived quite a long life, young man." She said, "But never have I heard someone speak such insanity. Rok'gul is a warrior-mage who commands Her Majesty's armies in battle. There is no reason for him to gift a stranger royal coins. Not only that, why would you be in Castle Amara? No commoner ever goes to the Gate District, so why would I believe you?"

"I'm not a commoner." I said, taking a peek at her cleavage, "And I am not lying."

Those breasts were quite big, simply staring at me. I don't know why I was having these perverted thoughts, maybe its because I had just spent the night having sex with a busty Serpent Demon. That Oneth imprinted her horniness on me.

"I find that hard to believe." She said with a sigh, "You must understand, we have had plenty of trouble with things like this."

"Keep the coin." I said, "If any of your Dread Lords ask, just tell them you got it from the Gunslinger. And have them ask the Midnight Legion about me. See if that doesn't tell them the whole thing."

She frowned, "Young man, this is no time for pranks." She said seriously, "You could get yourself and other people severely hurt. Please, take this seriously."

"Ma'am." I said, "Uhm, what is your name?"

"I am Elena." She said, "My Family has been in this city for generations, I would like to not leave in fear for my life. The Dread Lords are strict and they keep order, but when it comes to it, they will use brutality. They are commanded by Demons, after all."

"Elena, hm?" I said, pcing my hand on my chin, "It is a pretty name. It fits such a pretty dy like yourself."

She blushed slightly, "O-Oh.....what?" she said, completely taken off guard by my comment, "Uhm....."

"My name is Samuel Grey." I said seriously, "And I doubt there would be any need for you to leave the City."

"How could you be so sure?" She asked

I reached for the coin in her hand, gently brushing my hand against hers. She was taken off guard by this as well, her cheeks getting a bit redder than before.

I lifted the coin, "If that much trouble arises from possessing a mere coin." I said as I looked at it, "Then that is not fair, would it? Worry not, I will assume responsibility for it. After all, the gold coins in my bag were given to me. If this is a test from The Queen herself, I'll see to it that I pass it."

"A test from Her Majesty?" She said, a bit perplexed, "Why would she test you?"

I pced the coin in her palm, gently closing her hand and holding it with both my hands, feeling how soft her skin was. Despite her mature appearance, her body still seemed youthful. Her skin was fair and soft, the only signs of her age were her slight wrinkles and her grey hair.

Despite that, she was very beautiful with the body of a goddess.

"As I said, inform your Dread Lords that I have an affiliation with the Legion." I said, "That is all there is to it."

  "I see...." she frowned

I pulled away, "Did you cook the food, by any chance?" I asked, "The stew was wonderful and the pork chops, mmm.....superb."

I gave her an assuring smile, trying to ease her up.

"N-No..." She said, "That was my daughter, she works on the kitchen with her husband nowadays."

"Ah." I said, "Well, she's quite good at cooking. I take it that this is a family business?

"Yes." She nodded, "My granddaughter helps with waiting as my usual waitress hasn't come in due to having a child recently. I have a son who personally brews the mead and he brings them in from her work shed a few streets down."

I crossed my arms, "Interesting, interesting." I said, "Nice operation you got going on. That's nice."

  She gnced down, "Hm...."

One would normally think that she was staring at my crotch, but I think she was looking at my gunbelt, since her gaze slowly shifted to my right.

"Yes?" I asked, moving the coat back and revealing the gun, "Did you want to see this?"

"As I've said before." She said with a gulp, "I have lived for many years. So I know a thing or two about weapons and magic, not like I can wield them myself, right? But I do know a Runepowder Firearm when I see one."

  "Especially a Hand-Cannon."
