Jun, kneeling, unconsciously looked at the panel.

“What? What is happening? What’s going on?” He asked himself.
“Is this some kind of gimmick? Did the tribesfolk put some kind of drug on my food, and I’m starting to hallucinate? No–Impossible! I don’t feel any substance affecting my mind right now. And those experiences I’ve gone through, but it does not feel fake to me.” Jun touched his back where he got scratched by that tiger-like beast. “Eeckk!”

Jun is confused by the absurdity of the situation he is experiencing right now. “I’ve only read this kind of scenario in anime and manga.”
“I guess I was sent into another world. That’d really be boring if I got a System on Earth, right? That’s kinda boring if it’s true.”
But right now, here he was, experiencing this miraculous event.

After thinking for a while, he started to accept the reality he was in right now.
“But this is kinda not bad though,” after thinking about his future, “With this System thing, and various anime plots I’ve watched…” Jun started imagining himself swimming in riches, beautiful women sandwiching him, as they fought for his affection.

Jun cleared his throat.
“Calm down, you idiot! Don’t let your guard down. Based on a bunch of anime I’ve watched, this is some kind of plot that gods or goddesses bestowed upon the chosen one.”
“Am I that person? The one to save the world from the evil villain?” After thinking that he might actually be the chosen one, Jun started to sweat and tremble. He knelt down, looked at the panel, and started to kowtow.

“O’ supreme lord of wisdom, strength, and beauty!” Jun started to chant loudly while prostrating.
“Thou shalt watch over us lowly mortals from beyond the veil…”
“I do not deserve this grand mission, given by you–O’ holy one!” Jun said as sincerely as possible. Trying to reason with the god he believes gave him the system.
“Man, I don’t want to face those scary enemies.” He shivered at the mere thought of it.

“And why would I save the humanity that made me who I am right now?! The humanity that showed me of how cruel reality can be when I was only a child? This system showed me a path that was impossible on Earth. Why would I give up this opportunity for them?” Jun’s tone shifted in his mind, turning cold and bitter.

Eye of the Shadow Stalker
Type: (Item) Non-Consumables
Effect: Allows the user to see through shadows within a 10 meter radius, using them as eyes to observe the surrounding area.
“Whoa!” Jun said while staring at the Eye of the Shadow Stalker in his hand. It was black with a red slit. Symbolizing the eye of the beast he killed not long ago. He couldn’t believe he was holding a real item with a magical effect.
He was so happy inside that tears started to appear in his eyes. “I’m so happy!” Jun said with tears in his eyes.
Bad things happened to him one after another in the last hour, but strangely enough, he enjoyed it deep inside.
Maybe this is his adventurous side. He didn’t know for sure, but one thing was certain––being rewarded after hardship felt incredibly satisfying.
He clenched his fist. Thankfully, the Eye of the Stalker was as hard as stone.
“This is only the beginning. I’ll experience everything this world has to offer,” Jun swore to himself, as he stared intently at the panel.

Seeing his stats, Jun first noticed the name showed in the panel.
“Tsk!”
Seeing his full name––he became annoyed.
“Rubbing salt on the wounds, Eh?”
But seeing his stats, he became happy again.
“Wow! I’m kinda strong, huh? Let me see… My Physical stat is 16, and Defense is 13. Not bad at all, but that makes sense, because I’m physically fit. I run, walk a lot, and I’ve done my share of adventuring.”
“Intelligence only at 6? Damn! I’m not dumb, you know!” Jun shouted at the panel in front of him, complaining about why his intelligence was so low.
“Hmm, my Magic and Mana are at 0? That makes sense, I don’t feel magical right now.”
After checking all his stats, he then proceeded to shift his attention to his [Skills]. To his surprise, there was only one skill, and it was a passive one.
“Huh? Split? What does it do? Are there any descriptions of this skill? Is this some kind of cloning ability?” Jun squinted his eyes, and subconsciously pressed the skill.
What followed marked the beginning of his agony.
“AAAAAHHHHHHH!” He shouted without caring about his surroundings, not thinking about the predators he might attract.
There was only one thing on his mind: the unbearable pain.
“It hurts! It hurts! It hurts!” Jun clutched his head as he rolled onto a patch of leaves.
“Please stop! Please! Please! Please!” The excruciating pain was so overwhelming that Jun couldn’t force out a single word, only a low moaning sound. He could only beg in his mind.
“It hurts so much… I’m so sorry… Please! Just kill me already–I don’t want this anymore… Please… I beg you, whoever you are. Please… Let me out of this misery.” Jun whispered almost inaudibly. Silent cries for mercy, losing his recent motivation.
The excruciating pain was too much for him to handle. But as his mind started to fade, Jun heard two whispers–faint and distant at first, but as time went by, they grew louder and louder... with every passing second. Until the voices were so clear and close that he felt they were speaking inches away from his ears.
“Bro! You can do this–don’t lose focus! Remember all the hardships we’ve been through. Do you really want to quit because of this mere pain? This is nothing! We’ve gone way worse than this. We still have many years ahead. This is not the end of our adventure!” The youthful voice said.
“You want to quit right now, huh? We bragged to everyone around us about how determined we were… that no matter what they threw at us, we’d overcome it. We kept hoping that at the end of this long, dark tunnel, the misery would finally end. We promised ourselves that we’d become rich and relax until our last breath, didn’t we?” The elderly voice said.
As the voices echoed in his mind, Jun’s clouded mind began to clear.
“Yeah… I’ve finally found a fresh start, and here I was begging to die? Ridiculous! This pain is nothing to me.” Jun struggled to form his thoughts as he fought the unbearable pain he was enduring.
