Chapter Three The Gods Mistake

Oregin slowly turned his head toward Viola.

“…You want the three of us to give our blessings to him, don’t you, Viola?”

Viola shrugged. “Can’t sneak anything past you, can I?”

Lumi suddenly looked very proud of herself.

“Way ahead of you guys!” she said cheerfully. “I already gave him my blessing—and I made his magic stronger than normal!”

  Oregin froze.

“…Wait, Lumi,” he said carefully. “When you say stronger than normal… do you mean stronger than normal for humans?”

  There was a pause.

  “…Or for gods?”

  Silence.

  Lumi tilted her head. “…Oops.”

Viola’s eyes widened. “Wait—if his magic is too powerful, it’s going to come out too weak to be weaponized.”

Oregin’s expression darkened. “And we sent him to a forest full of monsters.”

  Lumi blinked. “…Oh.”

“At least you gave him your blessing, Oregin! He’ll be able to make weapons using the Modeling and Craftsmanship skills!”

Oregin nodded slowly. “Yeah… he should be fine. Technically.”

Viola crossed her arms, frowning. “Technically? He doesn’t even know he has these skills. He doesn’t know how to use them. He has no idea what he’s capable of, and we sent him into a forest full of monsters.”

  Lumi blinked. “…That’s… bad, right?”

“Bad?” Viola huffed. “That’s an understatement. Maxed Modeling and Craftsmanship in the hands of someone who doesn’t know they exist? He could kill himself trying to craft a stick wrong, let alone fight actual monsters.”

Oregin tilted his head, calm as always. “He’s a carpenter. Modeling and Craftsmanship aren’t just raw power—they’ll come naturally. He’ll learn instinctively, even if he doesn’t realize it yet.”

Viola narrowed her eyes. “Instinctively doesn’t mean he’ll survive. He could blow up half the forest or get eaten before he even figures it out.”

Lumi waved her hands, trying to stay cheerful. “Oh, but I think he’ll be fine! He’s got both blessings—he can make anything!”

“Exactly why I’m worried,” Viola muttered. “He doesn’t even know his hands can shape reality. He could accidentally create a weapon that destroys everything around him. Or worse, hurt himself. He’s unprepared, and the forest is not forgiving.”

Oregin exhaled softly, almost amused. “That’s why we watch. Minimal interference. Let him grow naturally. Survival is the ultimate teacher.”

“But…” Lumi frowned. “What if he gets hurt badly?”

Viola’s eyes narrowed, her tone sharp. “Hurt? He could die. He doesn’t even know he has these skills. He doesn’t know what he can do, or how to use it, or what could go wrong. Right now, he’s walking into a forest full of monsters completely blind—and if something goes wrong, he won’t even understand why.”

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

  Lumi tilted her head. “…Oh.”

Oregin crossed his arms, calm as ever. “…I’ve seen the possible outcomes. Some are catastrophic. Others… extraordinary. But right now, he’s completely unprepared. Survival will be a miracle, not a lesson.”

Viola nodded grimly. “Exactly. I’m not worried about him growing or learning yet. I’m worried he might get himself killed before he even realizes what’s in his hands.”

Oregin sighed and rubbed his temples.

“Lumi, go get Grim and go down to save the poor boy before we see that kid here again.”

Lumi’s eyes lit up. “Oh! That’s a great idea!”

Viola raised an eyebrow. “You’re sending him?”

“Relax,” Oregin replied. “Grim’s not there to collect the kid. He’s there to make sure the kid doesn’t die before he even learns what he can do.”

Lumi nodded enthusiastically. “Exactly! Grim can keep him safe, and I’ll teach Akira how to open his status screen!”

Viola paused. “…He doesn’t even know he has one?”

  “Nope!” Lumi said proudly.

Viola groaned. “Of course he doesn’t.”

Oregin crossed his arms. “That’s the real problem. Maxed skills don’t mean anything if the user doesn’t know they exist. Once he can see his status, the confusion stops.”

  Viola frowned. “And until then?”

“Until then,” Oregin said calmly, “Grim makes sure nothing kills him.”

Lumi clasped her hands together. “Perfect teamwork!”

Viola shook her head. “I can see at least twelve futures where this still goes wrong.”

  “And?” Oregin replied.

“…And Grim prevents death in nine of them,” she admitted.

Lumi puffed her chest. “See? Mostly fine!”

Viola sighed. “I hate that ‘mostly’ is acceptable when a teenager is involved.”

Oregin smirked faintly. “Welcome to divine oversight.”

Lumi spun in place, already glowing faintly. “Okay! I’ll go grab Grim!”

She paused. “Oh! And I’ll keep the interference minimal! Just instructions! No cheating!”

Viola snorted. “Teaching him how to say status isn’t cheating.”

  Lumi giggled. “Exactly!”

In a flash of light, she vanished.

Viola looked toward the void below once more. “…You really think this will be enough?”

Oregin nodded. “Once he knows what he has, the danger shifts from survival to restraint.”

Viola smirked. “That’s when the world starts worrying.”

  Oregin smiled faintly. “…Exactly.”

The light from the void faded, leaving only Viola and Oregin hovering in silence for a moment.

Viola crossed her arms, expression thoughtful. “You know… I’ve been thinking.”

Oregin raised an eyebrow. “Dangerous pastime.”

Viola smirked. “Shut up. It’s about Akira. You can meddle with anyone in any world, right? Gods like you, it’s kind of your job. So why can’t you just bring him back here if something goes wrong?”

Oregin sighed, leaning back slightly. “Because he’s not just anyone. He’s been transplanted. Once a person is moved to another world, I can’t meddle with them.”

Viola tilted her head. “How come?”

“Think of it like layers,” Oregin explained. “Mortals in their original world? Easy. I can influence, intervene, even rewrite small parts if needed. But someone who’s been transported to another world… it’s sealed off. I can’t just pull them out. The rules don’t allow it.”

  Viola frowned. “Rules?”

Oregin shrugged. “Not rules we made, per se. More… cosmic balance. Interfering with someone who’s been transplanted breaks threads of fate in unpredictable ways. Mortals aren’t supposed to cross worlds casually, and neither are gods. That’s why I can only guide, not pluck them out.”

Viola shook her head. “…So basically, if Akira messes up down there, you can’t just swoop in and save him?”

Oregin’s smile was faint, almost sad. “Exactly. The best I can do is make sure Grim’s nearby and Lumi teaches him what he needs to survive. That’s the closest thing to a guarantee.”

Viola let out a soft whistle. “Sounds… terrifying.”

Oregin chuckled. “It is. But it’s also why this is interesting. He has to figure it out on his own. Every choice, every misstep… it’s all him. That’s why watching him is more fun than controlling him.”

Viola smirked. “Fun for you, terrifying for me.”

Oregin laughed lightly. “Exactly. But trust me… he’s absurdly favored. He’ll survive. Probably.”

Viola groaned, shaking her head. “…Probably isn’t very comforting.”

Oregin shrugged. “That’s all we get. That’s the nature of transplanting souls.”
