The cult

Vex entered the twin's house, face leaning on the frames of the door, his hand loosely holding his dismembered one.

The door creaked open, Vex dragged himself across the room, his feet scratching the ground.

He exhaled, slumping on a chair in the library.

Aurelis sat across the table, a book hiding his face.

Vex slammed his dismembered hand on the table "Look! I lost a hand and you were here.. reading a book?!"

Aurelis closed the book with a swift thump, his eyes wander between Vex and the hand "Akito used my habel, I can't fight without a habel."

He got up, shoving the book into one of the bookshelves "Even if you were in grave danger.. I couldn't be of any help."

Vex took a deep breath, his chest puffing "Seriously?! Well, let me tell you what happened! There was this Gregor guy and the scythe wielder guy we fought earlier, and-"

The door burst open, akito's foot pressed against it.

The twins carried one another, their shoulders laid against the other's neck.

Aurelis turned his head towards the twins "Welcome home."

Akuya clenched his teeth "You could have totally helped."

Aurelis shook his head "I already told you. I-"

Akito interrupted him "You're not fighting without your habel.."

The twins walked across the room, leaning on a wall in the library.

Akito jerked his chin toward the table "Vex, I can see the fight didn't really.."

He flailed his hand "Go the best for you. I know of someone who can fix your hand."

Vex raised an eyebrow, his feet tapping the floor "A missing hand?"

Akito nodded, sighing "Well, if you go north east from here,"

He loosely held his hand up, pointing in that direction "Once you see a signpost, go straight north. there would be a group of huge mountains, go to the closest one."

Akito pushed himself off the wall, turning to the bookshelf.

He crouched, reaching for a book from the bottom of the shelf as he spoke "There is a blacksmith I know.."

He chucked the book on the table, his hand flapping through pages.

On a page with clone schematics, and elf anatomy, a letter was glued.

Akito carefully scraped the letter off the page "Hand them this."

He pulled the letter off, stretching his hand towards Vex.

Vex raised his hand, opening his mouth.

Akito waved his hand, stopping Vex "..They still owes me. doesn't matter why."

Vex stretched his hand forward, swiping the letter off Akito.

A fingerprint on the edge of the paper, and written across the middle in bold, 'free service', along with a green circular symbol beside it.

Vex's eyes darted between Akito and the letter "A blacksmith? How is a blacksmith going to fix my hand..?"

Akito rolled his eyes, sighing "They work in bio alchemy,"

He flipped another page on the book "As long as you keep your dismembered hand, they should be able to 'fix' you"

He pointed down at one of the pages.

The book's illustrations containing the process to maintain and reattach a dismembered limb, symbols of red blood drops and lizard tails drawn across it.

Vex turned his head to Aurelis "Are you.. coming with me?"

Aurelis turned towards Akito, nodding once.

He turned back to Vex, raising his hand "Sure, I've got a lead on my brother's location, and its in the same direction."

Vex raised an eyebrow, slamming his hand on the table, losing balance and slamming his head aswell.

He grabbed the edge of the table, lifting himself up, and exclaimed "Brother?!"

A loud bell rumbled, its ringing echoing throughout the city.

  Aurelis stiffened "The town bell.."

Akito grabbed Vex's dismembered hand, placing it in a white box, shutting the lid off with a twist.

The four of them go outside, towards the middle of the city.

A crowd of civilians gathered around, their heads turning one in front of the other, the boisterous area filled with conversations.

A lot of them were shouting, raising their hands as they blabbed

"Incompetent!" "The town has no right to have such poor protection!" "What are you doing?!"

In the middle of the crowd, a big golden bell stood, it's metal glaring against the sun.

A human leaned on the bell, his hair was spiky red, his eyes were blue, on his ears earrings with yellow stars chained to them.

He wore fancy clothes that had golden linings across them, with a rectangular cloth around his waste, embroidered with the purple petals of a cyclamen.

In one hand, the hilt of his sword, and in the other, his helmet.

He cleared his throat, his voice loud and grim "Citizens of Greage! Haah... What happened today was an attack, I'm pretty sure by some cult.."

Citizens circled around, pushing one another towards the center.

A tall citizen with a scar on his blue eyes shouts "A- and how can you make sure it wont happen again?!"

The knight barely tilted his head down, glaring at the citizen "What do you even mean.."

He forced his fingers towards the corners of his mouth, dragging them into a forced smile.

His eyes stood wide open "Good question!"

He dropped his hands, clicking his tongue as his eyes half shut "..from now on, we will close off the city, until the cult is deemed defeated.. I guess."

He gritted his teeth "Oh, and leaving the town is not recommended, or whatever. As entering it will now require more than a simple invitation, I guess."

The citizens mumbled amongst themselves, their faces brighter, smiles spreading across the crowd.

One civilian jumped "The town is ensured safety!"

A few people carrying sacks of food cried out "And what about the merchants?!"

The knight turned his head away from the merchants, resting his chin on his hand.

He dropped his helmet, letting it clatter on the ground "We believe safety should come before your little economy, or whatever."

He pulled out a paper from his pocket, and as he unfolded it "Oh, yea... We have also lost a lot of weaklings in the attack. It will take time to even consider rebuilding an expedition to hunt the cult, I guess."

He fully unfolded the paper, his eyes gazing down at it "The little cult goes by 'The purple gaze', I think that's what's written... Anyways, that will be everything. Scram."

  He turned around, walking away.

The civilians started scattering, some muttering curses under their breaths, mostly merchants

Vex leaned towards Akito, whispering "Who.. was that?"

Akito lifted his head up, facing Vex "That was.."

He sighed, scratching his forehead "Kazari, right hand of "The awakener".. he is also the most egoistic bastard out of all the soldiers. Did you see that flower emblem? All it means is that he is high rank. That's it."

Vex nodded, hand rubbing his chin "Seems like it.. absolutely zero social awareness! He 'guesses'"

He chuckled, flailing his hand "Anyways! The purple gaze huh? Just like the robe that one scythe wielder wore.. Scy? It fits the name 'I guess', heh"

Vex pulled something out of his pocket "Oh! That reminds me.."

He opened his hand, revealing shards of the broken scythe "I took some pieces of the shattered scythe! Maybe your blacksmith buddy will know a thing or two about it?"

Akito tilted his mouth sideways, his eyes glaring the shards "Ah, if anyone knows something about cursed weapons, it has to be them!"

Akuya slammed his hands one against the other "Anyways! I think its time for you two to depart."

Akuya pointed at Vex and Aurelis.

Aurelis nodded, turning around and walking towards the gates.

Vex turned, his leg stretched forward.

Akito grabbed Vex's shoulder "Wait! Vex,"

He handed Vex a large container "I've placed your hand here."

Vex swiped the container off Akito's hands "And does it.."

Akito placed his hand on Vex's mouth "Yes, Vex, it keeps the smell away as well.."

Akito stared at Vex "Are.. you sure you want to go climb a mountain dressed like this?"

He pointed at Vex's butler attire.

Vex shrugged "I don't have anything else to wear.."

Akito sighed "You might want to stop by a vendor on your way out.."

  Aurelis turned around, eyebrows furrowed.

He grabbed Vex by his hand "What's taking you so long?"

Vex glanced away "Well.. Akito's right! I don't have anything to wear to the mountains."

Aurelis' eyebrow twitched "Well, I won't bother waiting."

He waved Vex off, walking to the town's gates "You'll be fine.."

Vex faced Akito "I guess I'll have to suck it up.. thanks for helping!"

He rushed towards Aurelis, loosely carrying his container.

Akito exhaled, waving his hand "Such a lunatic.."

Aurelis and Vex walked towards the town's gates, their silhouettes getting farther from the twins.
