Over the next couple of days, I worked on my skills, trying to improve my movement, while using [Analysis] as much as I could to learn more about the world.
{Status Condition: Temporary effects on your body to include but not limited to sickness, persistent damage, positive effects from food, etc.}
{Name: The name of the person or object being analyzed.}
Some things I scanned were common sense, but it was something to grind my skill on, while others gave me more insight.
{HP: Quantized your health. The higher the number, the more durable you are. WARNING: If your HP reaches zero you will die.}
Understandable.
{SP: Quantized your stamina. The higher the value, the more physical activities and skills you can do. Stamina reduced to zero causes MP and [] to be consumed as a substitute, with poor efficiency. When MP, [], and SP are empty, a faint state will occur. WARNING: Overdrawing stamina through this can affect your health.}
{Strength: A quantization showing how strong you are and increasing how well strength-based skills work.}
{*Ding* Ambulatory Movement skill up.}
I alternated between practicing my magic-like abilities and my physical abilities.
Walking… was a short-term goal I strived for.
And seeing, being able to see would be nice, but it’s something that I shouldn’t push, otherwise I could damage my eyes.
{Race: The type of the creature being analyzed}
{*Ding* Analysis skill up.}
During that time, I found my Help section updates as I analyze things, which caused my completionist side to both celebrate and cringe.
{Constitution: A quantization showing how resistant your body is to negative outside influences and increases how sturdy your body is, as well as your endurance. This stat also increases the ability and capacity of stamina-based skills.}
{Intelligence: A quantization showing your general capability of learning and of the ability to use magic. This stat also increases the strength of magic and intelligence-based skills.}
{Wisdom: A quantization showing your general capability of understanding information and of the ability to resist magics. This stat also increases the capabilities of wisdom-based skills and controlling magic.}
{Charisma: A quantization showing your ability to interact with people. This stat also increases the efficiency of charisma-based skills.}
But, it was too bad the menu didn't update as [Analysis] levels up.
I kept working on general arm and leg movements, so that soon I might roll myself over and start crawling.
Putting more weight on my arms and legs would make working on getting the ability to walk again easier.
{*Ding* Ambulatory Movement skill up.}
Some skills appear to improve faster than others, maybe because they are development or fundamental skills?
There were also times my mother would take me outside to “get some sun”.
These moments aren’t for being taken for a walk just yet, only sitting on what feels like a porch.
Which means…
{*Ding* Auto Aperture skill up.}
{*Ding* Auto Aperture skill up.}
{*Ding* Sun Resistance skill up.}
{*Ding* Auto Healing skill up.}
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
I thought [Auto Aperture] was helping my eyes develop, but this may be equivalent to working yourself till you pass out at the gym to get gains… not optimal.
She seems to mean well, though.
Hmmm… I probably shouldn't exercise my stamina and MP, because I haven't analyzed [Auto Healing] yet.
If it's fed by stamina or MP, I'd rather it heal the burns that I got again.
After getting back inside and waking up from a nap, I continued.
Yay, I knew it contradicted what I said earlier, but I didn’t want to lie here and do nothing.
Next, I analyzed the skills that I haven't already checked.
I'll wait until after my [Analysis] skill is at a higher level before I go back to the ones checked already.
{Auto Healing: A basic, stamina-based, healing skill that automatically closes small wounds, healing HP over time, and curing some status aliments. The speed of healing increases with the level.}
Looks like it is a stamina-based skill.
I will want to leave some stamina left before sleeping so that it has some fuel and will heal the burns again.
Although it looks like I need to get hurt to increase the level of this skill, it will definitely be useful in the future.
{*Ding* Investigation skill up.}
I have some speculation on that skill up, but let's move on for now.
{Empathy: You had this in you all along. As a charisma-based skill, this gives you more insight into a person's emotional state.}
Ok glad to know I wasn't a sociopath until I got this skill.
{Sun Resistance: How resistant your body is to sun-type damage. Decreases damage and lessens the likelihood of gaining status condition from this damage type based on skill level.}
I wonder if this means at some point I just won't be able to get sunburns?
Does this mean I won't be able to tan either, or that I will go straight to tan, or that I will have a constant tan?
My thoughts bounced around a lot.
I partially blamed it on being stuck in a body that wouldn’t respond to me and being stuck in my mind.
Speaking of bouncing thoughts, I still couldn't see well enough to tell where I was at, at the moment.
Was this all part of their game?
[Let's watch this guy have freakouts while they can't tell what's going on,] kind of deal?
What kind of sick freaks are these…
Wait…
Humans had stuff like cats reacting to cucumber videos and stuff like that.
If they even cared about what is going on right now, am I just a cat reacting to cucumber to them?
I'm going to try to just give them no reaction.
{*Ding* Poker Face skill up.}
I could be spiteful sometimes… I would be the spiteful grumpy cat!
{Poker Face: A charisma-based skill used to help hide outward emotion from others. This is supplemental to the deception skill and will increase its likelihood of working in some situations.}
Ok, that was interesting, that is alluding to another skill I don't have yet, as well as skills that increase other skills' efficiency.
I should keep thinking about what kinds of skills I can get while I'm still barely able to move…
Things to think about it while I scan things.
I still had some MP to use before I work on my movement.
{Crib: A contraption used for storing small creatures used for sleeping and containment purposes.}
{Thin Padding: A thin padding used for placing a soft surface between a being and, usually, a hard surface. This padding is not useful for more than the lightest weight beings.}
{*Ding* Multitasking skill up.}
Wait, why didn't I think about doing exercises at the same time as the analysis before this?!
Well, I began doing just that.
{Small Blanket: A small piece of fabric used to help retain heat in small warm-blooded beings.}
{Multitasking: An intelligence and wisdom hybrid skill that makes doing more than one thing at a time easier to do.}
Unfortunately, that was it for what's around me.
I couldn't see well enough to scan anything else in the vicinity.
I finished my arm and leg exercises while leaving some stamina for the [Auto Healing] skill.
It wasn’t as effective as doing the two things in parallel, but analysing and working out at the same time was still more efficient than doing them separately.
Looking at my remaining MP and SP, I lamented that the system window taking up so much of my view and that I didn't have something like the status bars that were in some games in my old world.
{*Ding* Status bars integrated into the system.}
Just then, three bars appear in the upper left of my view, one for HP, one for MP, and one for SP.
Neat, the system is rather adaptable.
Since I wasn’t tired from using all my MP and SP, I tried to discover more skills.
I tried meditating like I used to, clearing my mind and just relaxing into it.
After a while, I hear some dings go off, but the meditation is nice and relaxing.
Not focusing on anything and just letting myself be one with the surroundings.
*Ding ding*
Not being stuck in my head, remembering things I don’t want to remember.
*Ding*
Nice, but the dinging is getting distracting…
I wouldn’t get a good meditation in for a while, not until the system skills catch up, but it was cool something I'm doing was working.
Just then, I hear my mother stirring from her nap, before stretching and walking over to the crib.
*Ding*
Opening my eyes, I saw my mother rather close by.
She is quite a beautiful woman with white blonde hair, and I hoped I inherited even a bit of looks from her.
I still didn't know what my father looked like, but I was mostly sleeping while he's been around.
Mother(slightly surprised): [Oh my, you're awake little Ray.]
Mother(happily): [You are such a well-behaved baby, you make your mother very happy.]
She began tickling me, and I discovered that this body was very ticklish and started giggling.
I couldn’t focus on my status messages at the moment, but it seems to make her happy, and I'm ok with that.
When she has finished, she picked me up and starts walking.
Mother(smiling): [Let's get you changed and fed. Your daddy should be home shortly.]
Burying my face in her shirt, I waited for the embarrassing situation about to happen, to finish.
