Chapter 1 rebirth

“I died. How did that happen? Oh yeah, I remember now; it was him. He really did it, after all. Can't believe he actually did it after all those threats and what was with those eyes; I'm more surprised he actually followed through with it. Well, fuck. Im dead”

A white light shone into my eyes, at least I think it was my eyes. I am dead after all, then everything went dark again. “I hope this isn't what I get for eternity, I was kind of hoping for some pretty ladies with wings, shit I would settle for a succubus to keep me entertained for my afterlife. After all, 15 was a bad time to go. Don't you think god?” I said in a hopeful tone but nothing else happened.

“I wonder what's next for me then. At least reincarnate me, damn it.” I said shouting the last part for good measure. The light flashed again, but this time a loud thumping followed it in my ears. “Well fuck, we finally have something.” I said

“Wait, Ears? I don't have ears, do I? After all, I'm dead.” Attempting to move my arms up to where I thought my head was, I felt two small ears. Then I patted my face.

“Small nose, small mouth, two eyes. I'm a fucken baby. That can't be right. How is that possible? No this isn't right.” The thumping in my ears continued on without stopping; after listening it turned into the most beautiful and rhythmic beat I had ever heard. Then without any warning I slowly slipped back into an unconscious state.

“My God, this has to be the most boring part of life.” floating in the liquid that surrounded me I began doing backflips just to pass the time. Then once I got tired of that which in my defence was actually really fun it was like floating in space, but then I began to punch like no end. I really just wanted something to do.

“Build it up in the shoulder, aim a foot behind your target, twist your hips, and explode into motion. Target done for. Repeat, repeat, repeat.” This went on just to pass the time, so I set up a kind of routine. Upon waking, I would shadow box until I got tired, then I would rest before round two started. Keeping this routine at every chance I got—well, every chance I got, that wasn't filled with thoughts about my mother I had left alone to defend herself against him. This brought me back to that night every time and I recalled every moment till the point I hit the ground.

“If I could return to that time, I wouldn't have held myself back; I would have fought back harder. But that's not possible anymore now, is it?” tears welled in my mind “No, I was murdered, and now I'm stuck here.” The dark thoughts never left my side as time passed.

“If I ever get back I'm killing that prick and that fat fuck too.”

One of the interesting things that helped me pass the time and kept my mind quite was watching my little arms turn from opaque white to a slightly tanned color. The growth of veins and my nervous system was a sight of amusement for me, as for some reason, they didn't quite match up to the ones I remembered reading about back in the history club. I used to read all sorts of books to help pass the time before I would be forced to return home by the janitors.

The funny thing was that not only was the information wrong, but it was nowhere near correct. For starters, there were a lot more veins than there was the muscle structure; it didn't quite match. It was more like there were muscles under muscles, and the nervous system was a lot more advanced, to the point that every single part of the body had its own cluster of nerve endings. Then there were the four major clusters running down my spine and the eight smaller ones above them and on either side. I didn't know yet why they were so different, but just knowing could change the medical field once I got out of this place. After all, I had to find some way to make up for my past life's failures.

Then with some trepidation I made up my mind. I would use this new life to better the world and bring down corruption wherever it was. Dying the way I did had to leave me with some kind of mental trauma, but it seems I haven't found anything other than the darkness that wouldn't leave me alone. Having a family that not only turned a blind eye to everything that was happening to my mother was one thing but also then they went out of their way to make my life hell—all because I wasn't a pure-blood Japanese boy with black hair. No, they cared more about the family name and my fat idiot cousin then they did anything else.

“If I ever find them, I will remove that family’s name from history.”

It wasn't long before the rhythmic thumping began increasing, and the fluid that surrounded me drained away, followed by the walls closing in on my tiny body. “What the hell is going on?”

Inside the fluid, up and down had no meaning, but now that it was all gone, I knew something was off. No matter how much I tried, I couldn't turn my body. Even with all the exercise I had done, my little body just wouldn't move as it was told. Not much time had passed when the pressure squeezed, and my face was pushed down into a very tight tunnel.

“Help!” screaming i began to struggle my only thought was that I couldn't breath, but not even a whimper came out. The pressure stopped and then began again, but this time it was pushing instead of squeezing.

“Ahh, what the fuck is going on?”

“get me out of here. I want out.”

Just as I thought it had stopped and I was about to die for the second time, bright light filled my eyes, blinding me from seeing where I was. Then I heard it, words it was words in a language none other than my own.

“I'm in Japan. Yes thoses fuckers are dead.”

“Miss Graystone, you have a beautiful baby girl.”

“Wait what. Girl, what the fuck, no, no I'm a boy, a boy you idiot, look again” I said, but to everyone else, all they heard were the cries of a tiny baby girl. It was only then that I remembered back.

  “I never fucken looked.”

“Miss Graystone, Lord Eleanor. Have you both decided on a name yet?” the same voice as earlier asked.

“What do you mean by name? I have one. It's Aaron.” I cried.

“Give her my grandmother's name,” Lord Eleanor said before rubbing my head and whispering in my ear.

“I'm sorry little Erin, I wish I had met your mother earlier in my life. I have put you both in a tricky situation, and I can't help you with any of it.”

Out of all that had happened, I, or should I say Erin, understood one thing: I had just been reborn in all its glory. As my eyes began to adjust, I realized another thing—I was no longer on Earth this was not Japan as i originally thought, as the first person I saw with my horribly weak newborn eyes was the nurse and she definitely was not human, with her cat ears and a big fluffy tail she was definitely from a erotic fantasy novel. Or at the time i may have thought a cosplayer but Moving my eyes across the room I saw was the man who spoke earlier; he was a man of royal status and build. His hair tied back in a bun and a smile on his face that could pass the heavens. Only when I tried to reach out, it faded into a painful grimeus.

“Miss Margaret Graystone, take good care of your baby. She is very beautiful; my only hope is she takes after her mother a lot more than her useless father.”

“My lord, please don't say that. You are not to blame here; i chose this it wasn't your fault,” my mother said with tears in her eyes as the man turned his back to us and left the old wooden hut, the only thing i heard was the weeping mones of a man that has failed in his only true job as a father.

“Another one, am I cursed.” I said

“Miss Graystone, it's time. Your baby needs to be fed,” the nurse said as she carried me over to a lightly tanned lady with bright blue hair tied back in a long plaited ponytail. It was a bit messy now but that is what I would expect after what i've been through I can't even guess at what she had gone through. As I was brought closer to her naked body, my mind was screaming no, but my stomach was saying something completely different to the point it ached.

“Oh no, that's not hunger; that's—” Sticky, dark green, almost black tar was extruded out of me and all over the lady that gave birth to me and the soft hands of the nurse.

“Meconium, I can't believe it. I just shat all over them both, that's so embarrassing.” I tried to say, only to hear the sounds of crying and then the soft voice of my new mother: “It's okay little Erin, mommy's here, don't cry; It's all normal.”

“Let me help you with that.” The nurse said bringing over a wet cloth. After the nurse had finished she looked over at my mother.

“I will be in the next room, just call out if you need me. I'll come back in a bit to check on you.”

My mind raced as a former male of 15, well into the beginning of my adolescence, and now I've reincarnated, I felt both excited and overwhelmed. The first feeling I had was that I was excited about this lady in a way I shouldn't, especially now this beautiful lady is my new birth mother. But my mind just couldn't except that fact I had a mother and she was back in Japan all alone. But as I was moved closer to her body My face turned bright red as I tried to think of anything else, especially since my new mother looked not much older than I was when I had died.

That night was very hard for everyone involved with my mother in pain; then there was the constant talking to myself, which, of course, came out as cries, but sadly for all involved was the fluid in my lungs from the birthing process, that had to come out one way or the other. I kept waking myself up every time the fluid entered my throat. Days passed just the same as when I was still in the womb, only now I wasn't able to move around.

  Margret Graystone

It wasn't until the second week that I took my little blue-haired child out for her first walk. It was a nice warm day, and the street outside my rundown cabin, adjacent to the town's biggest inn and across from a blacksmith's workshop where the town stables were, the area was bustling with life as if it was the main shopping district.

“Miss Graystone, you've finally come out! How's the baby? The guests miss your wonderful cooking, and want to know how you and your baby are feeling, after your troubles.” my old gray-haired boss said in his fashionable bear leather suit.

“The nurse said I should be strong enough to return to work in about a week.” I said but a sharp pain shot up my body. I grimeosed before continuing, “Please tell the guests I miss them and all their grand stories too, and that my daughter and I are doing well.”

The old man talked about his bottom end and how much profit he has lost in the past couple of weeks before letting me continue my first walk with my daughter “i think i will go to the market.” only I was stopped more then five times by old men who wanted to see my little lady.

Then of course there were was the old ladies stopping just to curse at me for being a homewrecker, among other fun names I didn't much care for but they weren't wrong after all. This didn't upset today's excitement one bit, with all the new sights and smells. Erin's eyes darted from one new thing to another; the street vendors were selling everything from grilled fish to swords and even magic staff's. How did my little baby know they were magic staff? Well, that was easy. From the moment we walked through the front door of the cabin, there was a man with his hand on the ground. I bet she thought this was odd until the ground began to shake and a wall of dirt sprang up, her little face sprang into a grin and didn't stop. This was only one encounter. As we reached the vendor's cooking, she looked at the flames coming out of people's hands. I thought this would scare her but it didn't instead she just laughed. the items for sale would float into buyers' hands. The staff themselves were glowing in all different colors. I couldn't help but smile as I watched the glowing staff's myself. then her little eyes gazed on the dancing ingredients floating down onto the grills.

“Isn't it pretty, little Erin?” I said. But then my smile dropped as I added, “I don't have the ability to imbue any of these toys for you to use.” Just as quickly, the smile returned, giving off a glow that could crack the heart of the coldest person—an ability passed down within my race. One I hoped Erin didn't inherit but the curse of the blight born was something that never failed to raise its head. But I knew she had, when every person who saw her face would end up instantly melting that person's heart.

“You have yourself a beauty there, don't you, Margaret? You're going to need to keep an eye on her when she grows up.” A young lady in her twenties said with a smile that would warm the world. “You've got to bring her around to play with my Alan when you go back to work. I'll be happy to look after her for you.” Linda said as her little boy looked over her shoulder from his baby carrier.

“Thank you, Linda. I might just take you up on that offer. You now how the inn owner is he would probably try to make money out of her. The kitchen isn't a great place for a baby, especially the likes of my non-magical one,” I replied, a little disappointment creeping into my voice at the end.

“Oh, don't feel bad about that. Everyone knows you have the best food in town, and just because you can't use magic doesn't mean you can't use magical tools like that gift the lord gave you. Plus don't you have a waiting list at the inn just to even get a meal from you? Come on, most of these people out here wish they had even a fraction of your abilities.”

“Thank you. It's just hard sometimes, you know, to see everyone using magic and knowing I can't, and just going by her blue hair, my daughter might not either.” at this my little one's eyes shot open.

  Erin Graystone

Thinking back to all the faces I had seen today, not a single one had blue hair. Only my mother had.

I don't believe it. I can't use magic because I have blue hair? No way—that's it! There is no way I was reincarnated to do nothing right. After everything I've been through that can't be it. I need to find some information on this, but first, I really need to get control over my own body's natural functions.

“Oh, little Erin, did you do something stinky?” Linda asked as she looked down at my face.

Have I? Really? Yes, I've gone and soiled myself again, and if you get any closer, it's going to be all over your face, you idiot. I said looking at the strange lady who was now sniffing my ass like a dog.

“Well, Margaret, it's been nice seeing you healthy. Don't forget to bring her around to play,” Linda said as she left the market square. We visited a few more stalls before we made it to the end of the market and onto Kings Street where the lords and high ranking guild members would congregate and shop for new gear. It was then that I met the rulers of the duchy.

“Oh, if it isn't the bitch herself. Have you come out to sleep with another married man?” A grey-haired, rake-faced lady said, hatred dripping from every word and her eyes digging into my mother. If I wasn't a baby I would definitely rip her head off for hurting my mother like that.

“Good morning, Lady Eleanor. How are you and your son today?” My mother replied with a smile, masking any feelings she might have for this woman and her family.

“You dare speak to me bitch you're just lucky your not one of mine still i don't see what my damn husband saw in a bitch like you.”

“Well I could answer that it's pretty simple, maybe he preferred something to hold onto instead of the ugliest rack I've seen in my life.” I tried to say. But again I was let down by my body.

“If it were not for that howling thing in your arms, I would have had you banished from this town by now, maybe I still might. Guards!” Lady Eleanor shouted the last word, only before the guards could move, Lord Eleanor stood in front of her. The image of him leaving my mother that night flashing in my mind.

“My wife, is it not enough that you have pulled all financial support for them and You have even refused to let me use my powers to help her heal, but now you want to have them banished from their home. None of this was her fault; it was me that forced it upon her, and who would be able to refuse a member of your family?”

Lady Eleanor knew this was a lie but went along with it for some reason “Fine, but I don't want to see her anywhere near me again, and if I do, she and her blue-haired mongrel will be banished from the duchy forever, is that good enough.” Lady Eleanor said, making it clear that the last part was directed at Margaret and me but could be heard by everyone within earshot.

“Yes, Lady Eleanor, we will follow your directions. You won't see us again, and if you do we will leave your lands forever.” my mother said.

Lady Eleanor snorted before leaving with a huff. Lord Eleanor walked over to us, resting his hand on my head a green glow emanated from his palm and encompassed my head.

“She's doing well, and her mind is strong. I can feel it. It seems her mother has been looking after her well. Thank you.”

“Husband, are you coming or what?” Lady Eleanor called out her voice permeated with anger.

“Sorry. About her, I swear if I weren't a healer trained at the Eleanor duchy academy of magic, I would have been dumped on the street like a common street rat.” He then shot a green light into me and left to follow his wife and their five-year-old son, who didn’t talk but looked down his nose at everyone present, including his parents.

“What a little sweetheart that boy will be when he grows up,” My mother said sarcastically before going back into the market to grab the ingredients she needed to make her favorite dish—one that, if she ever sold it, would instantly ruin her reputation as the best chef in town but she loved it.
