Chapter 68 : Hitting Back

"I don't I have anything to give you Mr. Bryan." Lawrence said while smiling awkwardly.

"But you do Mr. Lawrence." Bryan replied while smiling sheepishly.

Lawrence frowned because he quite like his position and the political sway he enjoy within this group which consists of more than half the wealthiest individuals in the city, not to mention that he's already mingling with the rest whenever the chance is avaible for him.

Honestly he was feeling quite delighted to meet this young man which was quite an unexpected surprise to add one more person to his long list of contacts which mainly consist of rich or influential people.

But once Dr. Jeffrey specifically mentioned the young man while disguising his scorn behind a silly reason, Lawrence immediately distanced himself from Bryan because he's aware that behind that distasteful man is a governor who carries his favor... For now!

Of course Lawrence understands that the governor must be struggling to endure this fellow's awfully hateful attitude and takes every meeting with a pinch of salt simply because he needs him to finish the project which would unlock a great business opportunity that would allow the citizens of this state to thrive by opening more than thirty-thousand job offers, that by turn would bolster the governor's chance of actually being elected for another term... Something which the man must be desperate for now more than ever considering the current state of affairs.

What surprised him the most was Bryan's way of handling the situation which was quite unexpected from such a young man, instead of getting emotional he simply stepped aside without showing any signs of being offended at all by what Jeffrey said.

Lawrence was paying close attention to this young man for a while now and finally confirmed that he wasn't making up an act or hiding his frustration at all, he really didn't take it to heart from the very beginning but judging by what he saw so far... Lawrence is positive that this Bryan didn't take a step back out of fear or even to show respect towards Jeffrey's backing at all.

That's why he was genuinely intrigued and really wanted to know that reason because when Jeffrey insulted Bryan... Lawrence was one of the few who saw this female bodyguard stop Charles's nephew from taking action but her eyes had a dangerously frightening glow when she looked towards the baldy.

"Maybe ter when I figure that out then." Lawrence said while smiling as he spread his arms and walked away from Bryan because he knows that it's dangerous to fly close to the sun and that curiosity killed the cat.

Bryan smiled while shrugging but he was quite happy that Lawrence decided to leave him alone at st.

"Give me the car keys." Right when Bryan was about to get ready to have a delightful conversation with someone else from the group he heard Jessica ask David to give her the keys and understood that it must be because it's time for the next shift to take over.

David didn't look like he wanted Jessica to leave alone but he stayed because he knows that his uncle must have something in mind.

"Mr. Jordan. How was your first shot on this section?" Bryan asked while shaking the hand of this fellow who's doomed to bankruptcy in the very near future.

"You really was telling the truth when you mentioned that this is your first time in golf course huh!" Jordan said while shaking his head then added : "I guess it wasn't bad since this is our second "Tee Box" and there's more to come."

Bryan noticed that Jordan was giving him subtle hints on the right phraseology, "I must've sounded completely off earlier." He said while scratching his cheek.

Jordan ughed it off and patted Bryan on the shoulder, "Who cares? You can call it whatever you want Mr. Bryan." Despite saying that, Jordan's eyes like many others in the group were locked on the two giants which arrived in a two-seater golf cart which looked like it was about to fall apart because of their excessive weight and size which is over its limits.

"Good afternoon sir." The two suited men nodded towards the suited woman after taking her position and she took the golf cart and left.

Bryan just nodded towards Vincent and Kelvin before turning his attention towards the one getting ready to make his swing but his attention really was on the man standing next to him.

  "I wa-"

"Hey little fellow." Right when Jordan was about to say something he got interrupted by Jeffrey who stood leaning on his golf cart and shouted that while looking towards them.

It caused everyone in the group to pause and look at Jeffrey then at Bryan before turning to look at Charles, but what surprised them wasn't Bryan's cool, calm, and collected behavior but Charles's attitude instead.

Because while they expected him to defend the young man or at least act civil while showing signs of being affected after this second dispy of clear disregard to his existence which is nothing less than another sp to the face... Charles Olivera was still rummaging through his gold bag seemingly in deep thinking on which one of his golf clubs to choose.

'I guess that means Charles is pnning to keep his distance from this poor kid because he doesn't want to get bit by this mad dog huh!' Almost everyone in the group had a simir idea going through their mind at that time.

Vincent and Kelvin exchanged a confused look then turned to look at David who's standing between them which makes his short and smaller body almost invisible at the moment!

David gave them the calm gesture with his hands then pointed towards Bryan's back as if saying : "Let the boss handle this old fool."

Bryan had such an amused smile while looking at this Dr. Jeffrey Hall who didn't disappoint him in the end and opened his mouth to say : "Are you talking to me?" He asked calmly while looking at the man's bald head which did quite a good job reflecting the rays of the sun with its skin.

Dr. Jeffrey Hall squinted his eyes because in his opinion the reason this little fellow is feeling courageous at the moment must be these two door-like men standing behind him, "Yes. Silly little fellow... I was talking to you!" Still he insisted on continuing with the same demeaning and degrading choice of words which cked all respect towards Bryan, "Now come here and help me with my golf bag, I'm too old to carry it to my next ball mark."

Everyone in the group gawked at this unsavory excuse and ridiculous demand from this petty guy after noticing that the reason he's trying to pick so hard on that young man must be because he can't stand seeing him act so sociable and cordial during his first meeting with the group and already receive such an amiable and friendly treatment from a few members so soon while many others are chomping at the bits impatiently as if they can't wait to get their chance to talk with Bryan, meanwhile Jeffrey has been a member of this group thanks to an old member which the majority admire and respect that's why they try to do their best to ignore this piece of shit which ended with him being the unspoken outcast of the group.

Charles's grip tightened on the golf club in his hands and for a moment there he was really tempted to use it to commit murder!

Thankfully he remembered his promise to his young friend and closed his eyes while taking a long breath before opening the cooler attached to the tail of his golf cart then took a cold bottle of water and used some of it to spsh his face before drinking the rest.

David was about to run towards this bald vulture to gdly enjoy every second of committing this felony but Bryan grabbed him by the back of his neck and raised him up in the air, before he noticed that his feet were running on air instead of solid ground... Bryan simply tossed him back towards Vincent and Kelvin.

"I'm a bit of a brute and I'd hate to see any of your precious collection of golf clubs getting damaged, are you sure you want this "little fellow" to do it for you Blind... Earth... Worm?" Bryan asked with a faint smile at the corner of his lips while thinking : 'I guess it's time for me to finally put you in your pce.'
