CH.114 Testing out Millennium Shield

I walked back to the seventh room. Last time I was here, a giant A-rank monster was looking at me, but now, there was only a small skeletal beast. I don’t know why this dungeon likes skeletons so much. Or why it randomly spawned a giant bull monster. I just own the pce, Christina runs it. And I don’t think she knows either.

I began to look through the monsters I already had in sleeves or toploaders. I’ll need someoo act as DPS while I do the defending. This would be a det ce to use a throw away fusion, but my toploader polymerization is still on cooldown.

(We could just make a toploader for another copy of Polymerization.) Laura said.

  (Yeah. Let’s do it.)

  3x Energy Drain, 2x Morale Boost, 2x Kojikocy, Hyper Hammerhead, 2x Skull Red Bird, 2x Nin-Ken Dog, 3x Lava Battleguard, 2x St. Joara copies], 3x Stumbling, 2x Blue-Winged , 2x A Lizard Warriagagigo

(Thanks Laura. Now, what moo summon? What do I have the materials for?)

(Plenty of monsters. How about Giltia the D. Knight? It’s humanoid, strong enough and you have the materials for it.)

I quickly checked out Laura’s reendation.

(Yeah, that should work. Let’s go with it.) I decided.

I pulled out the materials for it.

Guardian of the Labyrinth and Protector of the Throne. A strange duo, sidering that they make a dragon knight. I didn’t bother putting sleeves on any of the materials, as I really don’t think I’ll care enough about losing them. And I always try to get them again. They are all on.

“I activate Polymerization. I fuse together Guardian of the Labyrinth and Protector of the Throo fusion summon Giltia the D. Knight.”

A blue whirlwind appeared and took iwo materials.

And from it, my monster appeared.

He is tall. He has to be over two meters tall. Why is every humanoid monster I summon a freaking basketball pyer? He is dressed in blue armor that has some green ptes over it. He also has a spear that is as long as he is tall.

“Master, thank you for summoning me. What I do for you?” Giltia asked.

“Hello Giltia. Do you mind if I call you that?” I responded.

“No. That is fine.” He answered. “What I do for you, Master?” He repeated the question.

“I’m going to test out defending with Millennium Shield. I need you to act as my DPS. Don’t kill things too quickly, so I get some practi.” I gave him his mission.

  “As you wish, Master.”

We walked into the rge room before I summoned my shield.

“Millennium Shield.” I called to summon it out. It was a little strao use a duel disk, instead of the DiaDhank that I got used to, but I think this will be better in the long run.

As the Millennium Shield rose, I realized just how huge it is. It was over 2 meters wide and around 1,5 meters tall. It’s huge. I don’t think anyone could carry around a shield this rge. Well thankfully I don’t have to carry it as Millennium Shield floats.

  Spoiler

  [colpse]

Sadly I didn’t have the time to py around with its trols before monsters came at us. With the corridors between the rge rooms being ‘anti-monster zones’, I just retreat back to the corridor to be safe, but I want to be able to stop the charge. Trial by fire and all that. And I just summon Dark Magi or St. Joan if I need more help.

“Master, please hold firm.” Giltia said to me. “They are ing.”

I took a position behind Millennium Shield. Even if I ’t actually move it with my strength, toug it should be enough to gain some experieowards shield skills. Probably. So I grabbed the ha the baillennium Shield. I guess this thing would be a two handed shield. Well at its size it ought to be.

I braced for impact as the k skeletal beast charged at me. Sadly, as I was ing from the core room, it was the first monster I ran into. The good news was that the sub-room we were in held no other monsters, so I could focus entirely on it.

As I was expeg the impact, Millennium Shield moved a little to the right. I still held onto it and just a sed ter, I felt a small thud hit the shield.

“Master! Are you alright? Should I attack the beast?” Giltia called out to me.

“I’m fiay back. I want to keep going.” I said to my summon. This is way too little to even call practice. And this k monster is the highest ranking monster in the dungeon at the moment. Actually, one of the Dark Door challenge rooms might have a B-rank monster. But I’m not sure if I enter oh an active summon. I think I summon monsters onside, but entering with ohat is already summoned probably wouldn’t work. I should probably try, but at the same time it might be too risky. If I ’t actually summon anything there, I might actually die. Unless I set the Sakuretsu Armor on myself. But that will only work if I’m attacked by a single monster. If I get a room with multiple weaker monsters, that won’t help. … yeah. Perhaps I shouldn’t walk into a monster house just to test things out.

(The skeletal beast is charging again. Please focus on things around you Master.) Laura brought me back to reality.

(Don’t I always?) I joked. (By relying on you.)

As I said that to Laura, I turned so that Millennium Shield was once agaiween me and the beast.

This time, the beast attempted to jump over the shield and attack me that way, but my shield floated up enough that the beast rammed straight into the shield.

I heard a small crag sound from the beast as it hit the shield head-on. Are you dumb? Don’t run head first into a shield. That is going to hurt you way more than it hurts the shield.

The skeletal beast fell to the ground after its crash with my shield and seemed … dead? a skeleton die? uess in this case it would be an undead.

“Giltia, make sure this thing is dead. And the’s move on.” I ordered.

“Yes Master.” He responded as he stabbed his spear through the core of the skeletal beast.

We went though the other parts of the seventh room and I was busy trying to figure out things like, how do I draw aggro and how do I stop strikes most effectively. I know I have cards that draw aggro, like Raregold Armor, but I don’t want to rely on just my cards.

(Master, you could install it into yourself. It might grant you a taunt skill.) Laura said.

(Yeah, I guess I could. But at the same time, I’m not sure I want a skill like that.) I responded. (Sure it is useful while I py the part of a tank, but it be bad in other situations.)

(Well you just not use the skill.) Laura said.

“... I’m dumb.” I admitted out loud. Just because I have a skill, doesn’t mean it is active all the time. (Yeah, you are right. Let’s do it.)

I pulled out the card and held it to my chest.

(Laura, MST is not on cooldown, right? Just in case something goes wrong.) I firmed the status of my failsafe.

(It’s not on cooldown and be used.) Laura answered.

“Good. Then, Install.” I said. I felt the card leave my hand aer my body.

Then a wave of pleasuring pain rolled over me. It reminded me of the blood magic Lua used on me, but it was different. Hers was gentle and smooth, but this is more… powerful? Forceful?

Like trying to fit 2.1 liters of water into a 2 liter tainer. I felt like I was going to burst.

“Gaah, gaah.” By the end of the install, I was gasping for air. The mixture of pleasure and pain wasly what I would call nice. But it wasn’t terrible either.

(Master, are you feeling alright?) Laura asked.

“Gaah, gaah.” I took in deep breaths. (Yeah… I think I will be. But that hurt way more than I thought it would.) I told her.

(Please open your status so I firm if you gained a skill.) Laura asked.

(Status.) I thought and it opened up.

Name: Brian WoodRace: Human !Level: 37HP: 610Mana: 9th: 230Defense: 480Magic: 290 Skills: Pack Opener LV.4 (uelekinesis LV.1 (extra) Summoner’s prote LV.1 (extra)Dungeon Founder (extra)Summon Water Spirit (extra) Mana trol LV.1Shining Taunt LV.1 Language prehension (humanoid)Water Spirit’s Blessing (greater)Shining taunt? That is new. (Laura? Do you know about it?)

(Yes. It’s a subtype of the taunt skill. Usually the Taunt skill evolves into it or another possible version, so it’s rare to see it at level 1.) Laura expined.

(What does it do?) I firmed. I did already have an idea.

(It makes you shine a light that draws moo you. It also work on humans, but it’s much less effective against humans than Yelling Taunt.) Laura said.

(Yelling Taunt? Like insulting someoo get them to attack you?)

(Exactly.) Laura firmed. (It’s more effective against creatures that uand human nguage. But shining taunt is more effective against monsters.)

(I see. Is it possible to have both?)

(It is rare, but it is possible.) Laura said.

(Well the’s test it out.) I decided and we walked into the st sub-part of the seventh room.

“RUN!” I yelled as I realized the mistake I made. Shining taunt got every monster in the room focused on me. Even with the monsters being different kinds of imps, with swords and spears, I still don’t want to fa army of imps. Or perhaps a squadron. There were over 20 of them ing at us. I probably should have just installed Raregold Armor onto Millennium Shield, instead of myself.

We escaped back to the sed quarter that we had cleared out earlier.

“Master, we take them. Let’s go ba.” Giltia said to me.

“Are you crazy? I ’t hold off that many on my own. And I doubt you take care of all of them on your owher.” I told him.

“I could with your help.” He said back.

“Yeah. By sacrifig me. That’s not a good idea. And I just learime. Let’s head back.” I ordered.

“None of us would ever sacrifice Master. We ’t exist without Master after all.” Giltia said.

“... Yeah, let’s not try it anyway. I don’t want to be swarmed that badly.”

“I don’t think 23 monsters t as a swarm.” He said as he followed behind me.

  Did you t them? When?

“Wele back, Brian. How did your test go?” Christina weled me as I walked back to the core room.

“I think you know already. Or are you saying you didn’t keep an eye on me.” I responded.

“Of course I kept an eye on you. But I wao hear from you. So how did it go?” She repeated.

“... Fine, I guess. I did realize that looking at a group of monsters running at you is scary.” I admitted.

“I suppose that is something. Your shield is quite impressive. How do you carry something se?” Christina asked.

“I don’t. The shield floats.” I told her as I let go of Millennium Shield. The shield kept levitating in the air.

“Oh. That’s quite something. What kind of shield is it?” She asked.

“Well, it’s not teically a shield. It’s a monster. Just like that carriage we took to e here.” I told her.

“Another mysterious thing you have. Well at least it seems perfectly safe.”

“Yeah, it should be. ructive power here. Unless you charge head first into it.” I joked about what the skeletal beast did.

“That is true. That beast really didn’t expect you to be able to raise the shield that high.” Christina ented.

I unsummoned my two monsters and sat dowo her to rex after my training.
