CH.155 To the Dhampir Village

With Laura’s help, it wasn’t difficult to find the pce. But I was a bit surprised by the location.

Lua’s mother’s house was in one of the … better areas of the city. Sure, there were no ht slums, (well, there might be some outside the walls) but the city does have better and worse areas. At least based on what I learned from Saber Fang both on our way here from Alewatd during the orc mission. And this pce was quite good. Close to pces like the adventurer’s guild. A perfect house for an adventurio own.

But the owner of this house should be Lua’s mother.

I got out of Overdrive and unsummo. I don’t want to leave it here for the passersby to ogle at.

(Lua, I’m outside the house. Could you e let me in?) I sent Lua a message with our system link.

(Brian, I’ll be right there.) Lua responded.

After a few seds, the door opened.

“Good m, Brian.” Lua greeted after she opehe door.

“Good m. Were you waiting for me?” I asked.

“Well teically yes, but it's not like we were going to head out before the sed bell anyway.” Lua answered. “Let’s get inside first. I’ll introduce you to my mother.”

Lua led me ihe house. It wasn’t that rge, basically a standard single family home, but that in itself is good. Not everyone afford a single family home.

Well, I probably shouldn’t assume that. In this world, houses might be more affordable.

At the kit table sat a single woman. Seemingly around 40, she had silvery hair with a hint of blue and brown eyes. And just like her daughter, she was beautiful. Why are MILFs everywhere in this world? Christina, Angelina and now her as well. Do females in this world age differently? They probably do. Some magic thing. Or perhaps it has something to do with having access to healing magiagic potioher way.

“So this is him.” The dy said in a voice I reized.

“Yes. Let me introduother, this is Brian, Brian, this is my matha.” Lua introduced us.

Agatha? Okay. I o remember that. And her voice. It’s the same as Lua’s System Support I’m detly sure.

(Yes it is.) Laura firmed for me.

(Just like Lady Laura said, I do use the voice of Lady Agatha.) I heard Lucia’s System Support say in my head. I hope I won’t fuse the two. Well, I guess one is just in my head wheher I hear with my ears.

Agatha got up from the table and walked over to me.

“It is a pleasure to meet you. I am so thankful for everything you have done for my daughter.” Agatha said as she offered me her left hand to shake. Why left? Because she doesn’t seem to have her right anymore. Her right sleeve is just empty.

“Yes. It is a pleasure to meet you as well. Your daughter has been a great help and she even saved my life.” I said as I used my left hand to shake hers.

But the handshake might have been a trap, because as I brought my left hand towards hers, she quickly moved hers and pulled up my sleeve, revealing my founder’s terminal.

“So, it is true. You are a founder.” Agatha said as she looked at the terminal.

“I could just be a master.” I said back.

“Mother! Don’t do that.” Lua said to her mother.

“I just wao make sure. This firms that at least some of what you told me is true.” Agatha said.

Told her? I wonder what everything Lua told her mother?

“Now then. I must ask ohing. Is it true that you cured Lucia’s blood curse?” Agatha asked.

“No. That’s not true.” I said. “A monster I summoned did it.” I corrected her.

“But that is a part of your power, isn’t it? You summon that monster again, ’t you?” Agatha asked.

“Yes, I .” I answered. In fact, I just summoned Vampire Lord yesterday.

“I see. Then would it, if it wouldn’t trouble you too much, be possible, that you would e with us and cure everyone in the vilge?” Agatha asked.

“... Didn’t Lua tell you that I already agreed to do that?” I asked. Was there a unication problem? Or did I not tell Lua about my iions? I feel like I did.

“I did.” Lua said. “But mother was doubtful about it.”

“And I still am.” She admitted. “What is yain? Your endgame? What are y to achieve by g dhampirs?”

… Good question. I don’t really have a reason to do it. I wao cure Lua because she took care of me while I assed out from level up siess. And now my only reason would be the system mission that gives me Vampire cards as a reward. I guess I could tell her that, but at the same time, I have no reason to. And if I did, it would also reveal that Lua has the system support. I wonder if she told her mother about it?

(Lua, did you tell your mother about having system support?) I asked Lua through our system link.

(Brian, yes, I did. I showed her my status to prove that I had my blood curse cured.) Lua said back.

(Lua, is she trustworthy? I just think telling her about me also having it and a few other things would expin why I’m doing this.) I asked.

(Brian, she is. I trust my mother and I hope you will as well.) Lua said.

“I see.” I said out loud. “I’ll tell you the truth then.”

I spent some time expining the system mission I had to them, well first I had to tell Agatha that I also have the system support and that led us to tell how Lua got hers.

Lua was a bit surprised when I told them about the mission. Did I not tell her about it? I feel like I did, but I probably didn’t. Well anyway. I wonder if she get a simir mission as well.

Actually, has she gotten a single system mission siting the system support?

“Ah. So the Goddess has once again thrown a lifeline for the dhampirs. Just like when she blessed the vampires.” Agatha said in admiration.

“Again? What do you mean?” I asked.

“Do you perhaps not study history?” Agatha asked. “I know it's not the most on part of the legends, but after the defeat of the demon king, the Goddess appeared and removed all of the demon lord's power that lingered on his followers. She then gave them access to the system and gave them the same rights as all other races. That includes the vampires. And now, with the blood curse getting worse and worse each geion, the Goddess has sent someoo help them.”

I see. So the enemy of the Hero really was a demon lord. And the vampires worked with him. And then with time the vampire children became dhampirs. And the dhampirs would get the blood curse. But the vampires should have been able to cure it. I wo oint did something happen, so that they no longer could cure the blood curse of the new geion?

With Agatha now no longer suspeg me, we spent a bit more time in the house making sure we had everything, before heading out just after the sed bell had rung.

“Overdrive.” I summoned our ride. This was the sed copy I had. I had put a toploader on it a while ago1CH.107, but I never installed 7 pleted or Mae version Factory into it, so I did that before we left.

“... Is this safe?” Agatha asked.

“Safer than any carriage you’ve ever been in. Probably.” I answered. I don’t know what kind of carriages she has been in, but sidering that Overdrive is literally armored, it should be quite safe. You’d probably have to have a carriage made of mithril or something so that it would be safer.

“Probably? More like definitely.” Lua ented.

“Have you been in it before?” Agatha asked Lua.

“Yes. It is a bit unfortable, but it's fast.” She said.

“Don’t worry. I’ve made it better sihe wyvern i.” I said to Lua. She has never ridden Overdrive after the double installs.

We were headi, that is what I was told. And as the driver, I do he info for where we are going.

I was a bit surprised that we didn’t get pulled over at all today. We did get plenty of looks from the passers-by, but no guards came up to us today. I don’t know if the information about this carriage belonging to a representative of the earl went around or something, but that would have beeremely fast.

We were stopped at the west gate, but I just showed them the mithril medal and we were given priority to pass through the gate. Btw. The east gate didn’t have a separate rance, but it also didn’t have as many people going in or out, so one probably wasn’t necessary. Or there just is nothing this way.

“May I ask something?” Agatha asked after we got outside the walls.

“You already did, but I assume it is something with actual tent. Go for it.” I answered.

“How do you have that medal? It is a mithril medal of the Sawyer house, correct?” Agatha asked.

“Yes it is. It was given to me.” I answered.

  “How? Why?” She asked.

“Go ask the earl. He is the one who gave it to me.” I answered. “But I think it is because I have the system support.”

“Hmm. I suppose that could do it.” Agatha said. “I wonder if Lucia could also get one.”

“Mother. I don’t really want to tell anyone about it, so don’t even joke around.” Lua interrupted.

“I’m just trying to look out for you.” Agatha said.

“I take care of myself, thank you. Especially when it es to things like that.” Lua said.

“Oh. What happeo my i little girl that always wanted my blood into her fsk?” Agatha asked.

“You sent her away to study magid she grew up.” Lua said.

I guess bantering like that proves that they do love each other. And holy, the true sign of love betweewo of them is Lua’s System Support. She did take on the voice of Lua’s mother and I think it is for a reason.

We had been driving at a det speed for just under an hour when the first warning sign showed up. It said:

  WARNINGDhampir Vilge AheadTurn Ba

“Well, that’s not ominous at all.” I ented.

“Better to have a warning before being sucked dry.” Agatha said. “Here. Put this on.” She said as she took a neckce out of her bag.

As I was driving, Lua put it on me.

“And this is?” I asked. I would learn a bit about it as soon as I had Laura analyze it, but better to hear it directly from her.

“Something that makes dhampirs not like your st. It is just a repellent, not guaranteed immunity.” Agatha said. “I would know. That’s how I lost my arm.”

“Oh. Would you tell me about it?” I asked.

“I suppose. It was my third time here. I was an adventurer guarding the blood shipment. I had been careful on the first two trips, but I got careless because nothing had happened. And there was a dhampir that I had the hots for. He ended up tg onto my arm. I used a tour on it to prevent him from sug me dry, but my arm was beyond saving.” Agatha told me.

  “I see. I’m sorry.” I said.

“Well, it’s not all bad. I ended up gaining a skill from it and that skill is why I now have the job of taking blood here.” Agatha said. “I also was able to leverage the attack against the person I had feelings for and the result of that sits o you.”

… wait a sed. So Lua’s father tried to kill Lua’s mother? And after he failed, she forced him into a retionship. That’s … hardcore. Don’t mess with Agatha. Or if you do, make sure she dies.

“No gate, no guard, barely a wall. ly what I was expeg.” I ented as I saw the vilge. It was just a bit more developed than the orc settlement from yesterday. At least the houses look like houses.

“Well, most of them are built by the people living there and they doly have the skills for it.” Agatha said. “There have been a few times that the entire vilge has been cleared out so that a stru project take pce, but they are few and far between.”

“I guess most don’t want to risk a dhampir bite.” I said.

  “Exactly.” Agatha ented.

“But what about monsters?” I asked.

“They do sometimes attack, but as long as a dhampir draw blood, they will win.” Lua said.

“Oh yeah, blood magic.” I realized. “But what about injuries?”

“We heal faster than humans. Especially if we have fresh blood to drink.” Lua added. “But iurn, healing magic has a reduced effe us.”

“Well, at least it doesn’t harm you.” I ented, based on video game knowledge. Usually, undead monsters like vampires are harmed by healing magic.

“One of the advantages of being a dhampir instead of a vampire.” Lua said. “That and no weakness from the sun.”

“But iurn you are cursed. I’m not sure that is a good deal.” I said.

“But a curse be broken, right?” Lua asked.

“Yes. Yes it .” I agreed.

Let’s just hope these dhampirs trust me enough. I really don’t want to use Swords of Revealing Light or something oo force them to stay still while Vampire Lord cures them.
