Chapter Fifty-Three: After His Death

After I finished covering the jar and walked down from the wooden stage of Tingting's attic, I saw that Tingting had already prepared some hot food for me. It was obvious that Tingting had put her heart into cooking for me tonight, with two vegetable dishes and a soup. Seeing the dishes and soup on the table, I took a bite of each. Hmm! Not bad, they were quite delicious, much more flavorful than what she had cooked for me in previous nights!

After I finished eating and patted my belly, I chatted with Tingting for a while before leaving her home to find a place to sleep outside.

Tingting originally wanted me to stay and sleep here, she said that sleeping at her place was fine since no one would know, and I could leave early before anyone noticed. But I didn't do that. Firstly, I thought it's better to be cautious and not be careless, some places are okay to sleep in, but others are best avoided. Although there might not be any danger, it's always good to be careful. Secondly, I was afraid that if I stayed, I might lose control of myself and do something with this flirtatious girl, and then have a guilty conscience, which would be bad. You know, it's been many days since I last did that kind of thing, and now saying I don't want to is just pretending.

Besides, Han Feiyan also said that the witch didn't know how to judge, whether they had done that kind of thing with men at night, she could tell at a glance. This witch is coming to her house tomorrow to collect the slave, what if something is found out, it would be endless trouble...

After I left Tingting's house, I came to a tree and found a comfortable place to sleep. Although the days of sleeping under the sky and living in the wild were carefree, they made me feel exceptionally bitter...

The next day, around one o'clock in the afternoon, I was running after a black cat in the village, when suddenly a woman shouted "Wu Ba Po is coming!" At this sound, I took a glance and saw Wu Ba Po's figure appearing from the west end of the village.

As usual, the old witch was accompanied by that dull-eyed man. To note is that the man who followed her was pushing a wooden unicycle at this time. This unicycle was three times larger than a normal unicycle, and from a distance, it looked like a cow-drawn carriage.

As the witch approached me, I suddenly discovered that on the witch's face, there was an obvious scar, which should have been formed recently, looking quite new. This scar looked particularly eerie, just like a live centipede had been embedded in it, making people tremble with fear at the sight of it.

Apart from this extra scar, I could clearly see that the old witch's complexion wasn't very good, and I didn't know why.

After the old witch entered the village, she first took the man pushing a wheelbarrow to another two girls' homes. After arriving at their homes, I saw the man busy for a while and then easily put two jars in the wheelbarrow with his own strength. Note that he was able to put the jars on the cart solely by his own power, this terrifying and strange strength really made me feel frightened.

After putting the two jars in the wheelbarrow, the witch brought the man pushing the cart to Tingting's house.

Almost the same as before, Hanzi followed the old witch's orders and entered Tingting's home. Not long after, he single-handedly carried out the small-sized urn from Tingting's home and walked out, then easily placed the urn in the car. When Hanzi was carrying the urn out, the old witch and Tingting also came out of the house. I noticed that when Tingting came out, her eyes had a hint of mistiness, looking at the urn in the car with reluctance, her small hands clenched into fists, and those clenched fists were trembling slightly.

I heard that at the end, the witch said to Tingting: "You did a good job, I'll give you credit for it. I believe you will receive the blessing of the gods. Keep up the good work, the gods are with you!"

Having said that, the old witch coughed twice and then slowly walked towards the west of the village with the man pushing a wheelbarrow.

As I saw them leave, I gave Tingting a sympathetic glance and carefully followed after them.

I found that the old witch and the man were walking very slowly, along the way the old witch would occasionally sweep her eyes around, as if she was paying attention to the changes in the village.

When they arrived at the west entrance of the village, the old witch turned her head and looked back seriously, as if to see if anyone was following them. After looking back, she seemed to have put her mind at ease and led her husband towards where she lived.

I saw the old witch leading her husband to their own residence, I thought these jars must be taken to her own residence, who knows, all the jar slaves are hidden in her house. However, this is just my casual thinking, but I still haven't relaxed, keeping a certain distance, using the surrounding trees and flowers as cover, slowly following them.

After I followed the witch to her home, I thought the man would unload the jars from the handcart and carry them into the room. But what I didn't expect was that when they arrived at the door, the witch didn't seem to want to go in, just standing there quietly as if waiting for something. The man also didn't move, just watching over his unicycle. Instead, the door opened by itself, and a man in black came out from inside.

Although I couldn't see the face of this man in black, from his build and height, it wasn't hard to judge that this person was the same man in black who had dragged away the stiff corpse earlier, the one who looked exactly like the guy pushing the handcart! Seeing this scene, my mind cleared up, and I strongly suspected that my guess was correct - these two people looked identical, but on the surface, they were just one guy playing a role.

When this man in black came out, the witch showed him a sickly look and asked: "Cough cough cough... Ah Cong, are you all ready?"

"Grandma can rest assured, everything is going according to plan."

"Alright! I've brought all the slaves, we can leave now. You lead the way!" The witch said to the man in black clothes whom she called Ah Cong.

The old witch stopped talking, and Ah Cong also stopped speaking, leading the way forward. Then the old witch was in the middle, and the man was pushing a handcart at the back. The next second I found out that after they bypassed the old witch's residence, the place they went to was actually the back mountain of the old witch's house, which was where Ah Cong had dealt with the corpse of the black-clothed man earlier.

Seeing them go there, I thought to myself: "Could it be that Han Feiyan was actually right? The corpses raised in these jars are used to feed these poisonous creatures?"

I'd like to go back, but I'll stick with them tightly and see what they're up to with these corpses in the jars.

Just as I was about to get up and follow, I suddenly heard a rustling sound coming from behind me, like the sound of grass being parted. As I turned my head to look back, I was shocked to discover that in the grass nest just a few meters away on my right side, another figure was crouching. At this moment, this figure was intently watching the old witch and the others! And this person, surprisingly, was Su Ping!

When I saw Su Ping, I was so scared that I broke out in a cold sweat. I never thought that apart from me, Su Ping would also pay attention to the movements of the witch. Before this, I might have been too focused on the spiritual energy coming from the witch's direction and didn't consider the danger coming from behind me.

However, I found that Su Ping seemed to be unaware of my existence, which made me feel quite strange. Logically speaking, I was following Witch Grandma, and she was behind me, so she should have seen me. But through Su Ping's expression and eyes, at this moment, her gaze was completely focused on Witch Grandma and the others, without even a glance in my direction.

I realized that Su Ping might not have discovered me, so I secretly rejoiced for a moment. Then I didn't dare to move again, and I wanted to see what Su Ping would do next. While being careful, I was also thinking that Su Ping wasn't one of the witch's trusted followers? Wasn't she helping the witch with things? So why was she following the witch? This really made me puzzled.

I thought Su Ping would follow the witch after she left, but what I didn't expect was that after the witch walked away, Su Ping made a move that completely caught me off guard...
