Following the day I almost died in the depths of the forest, I decided to take a break. The two cores that I got, I gave to Wardcruncha as a gift which he only took after I told him that I wanted him to teach me how to make magical materials. He agreed, of course.
I didn't want this at first but I guess it's good that I'm closer to being able to profit off of scrolls that I make.
Everything after that became a whirlwind of preparations where I bartered for stuff in the markets of both Ghorise and Flotol. I wanted to make as many traps as I can in a single trip so I made sure to get a lot of items.
Days came and went and I started making my traps, the more I placed, the more confident I became at the efficiency of this particular plan. Not only am I safely sitting in our house while my traps kill monsters, I can also multi-task thanks to them.
Leveling up and earning money at the same time isn't impossible thanks to my contraptions.
Currently I'm around the lifeless pool, sitting alone while eating my lunch– a sandwich that I hastily made. – and in front of me are several dozen aberrants just sitting there, waiting to be dragged out of the waters and into their deaths. If I kill all of them I'd probably reach level 30.
My gut tells me I'm close to leveling up so I'm planning on doing that today. Level 11 isn't a milestone but I will be able to get my very first stats from it, which yeah, also happens. Now that I've passed level 10 and upgraded my system, I will be able to get stats every time I level up.
How many stats I get is determined by my previous system, that being my physical and magical affinities. If I remember correctly I had what? A high affinity for physical stats and a low affinity for magical ones?
Good thing that I got the class that I did, then. With [Brutal Trapper] actively boosting my magical stat, I'd be able to rest easy knowing that I won't lag behind when it comes to using spells while at the same time, I'll be able to increase my physical strength with each level up.
Pretty neat stuff.
Everything will change again after I pass level 20 but that's still a month or so away so I don't really need to worry about that for now. I do hope I get enough sub classes that I'll have a decent spread of stats with each level up though.
The last pieces of my sandwich went down my gullet and I hopped off the fallen tree I'm sitting on. My hands got dusted off, I picked up my wand, and then I walked towards the lifeless pool. It's really interesting how the water's surface in this place just refuses to move, giving it an eerie feel.
Usually I'd just drag an aberrant towards one of my traps and I will, later.
Right now my priority is draining my mana so that I get some form of magical recovery passive so I'm going to be fighting an aberrant while under leveled.
Although the rules of the world have changed considerably, and that levels don't have as much influence here compared to the game, the fact of the matter is, aberrants are still strong and my magic is relatively weak. The ice that I can make is limited and not to mention, fairly brittle.
A higher magical stat would change that, naturally, I'd get stronger ice, bigger water balls, that type of thing.
However, what doesn't change is the fact that my offensive spells will do damage no matter what. A rock falling from the sky can break an aberrant's shell so it's only normal that my [Icicle Spear] can do the same. And easily at that.

There's ways that I can kill an aberrant here that I wouldn't be able to in the game as well, for example, I can cast [Freeze] directly on their mouth and they'd start choking, or maybe on their legs so that it becomes brittle and breaks apart, crippling them.
So many ways, really. This world is no longer limited by game logic and I can do whatever I want.
With that being said, I picked up a rock and threw it at a pair of antennas. I gripped my wand tightly as I watched the giant crayfish come out of the water, its four beady eyes somehow glaring at me despite not having irises.
Like always, I ran away. After building so many traps, I'm obviously fit so I'm no longer the struggling child I was the first time I did this. My legs carried me away from the crustacean and I'm able to move between trees like it's natural to me.
When we were deep enough, I stopped running and turned back. The aberrant is still chasing after me, as expected of a bull, they're always so aggressive and would literally attack anyone that even comes close to their territory.
But that's also their biggest flaw.
I pointed the tip of my weapon towards it and cast [Water Ball], which the item interpreted into a [Freeze Spell] that caused ice to form on the face of the aberrant.
The crayfish raised its giant claws in response, though not to attack but instead to try and break the ice now covering its nose. Every time it struck the ice, pieces would fall apart but since the way it formed is so chaotic, its attempts could only do so much to break it.
With its nose now being actively hindered, air could not enter its lungs. On top of that its constant movement is burning more of the limited oxygen in its bloodstream and soon enough, it would faint from exertion.
Leaving it like this wouldn't be a bad idea, there's no realistic way for the aberrant to truly break the ice on its face and when it stops moving, it wouldn't be able to breathe.
This thing would choke to death. I can be satisfied with that.
Sadly, I'm not. I raised my wand again and waved it to the left after casting [Water Ball], five icicles made of ice formed around me and after another wave of my wand, they flew towards the aberrant.
More flailing was the result when my spell connected, the shell on the aberrant's side cracked and splintered, caving in from the pointed tips of the icicles.
Blood flowed, and with a wound now causing its very life force to leak from its body, the aberrant's drowsiness worsened. I can tell that it's starting to become weak.
The crayfish's attempts to break the ice on its face gradually slowed down until its claws just stopped moving entirely. I cast two more [Icicle Spear]s, both of which are directly aimed at the aberrant's head.
When the last of the icicles pierced its carapace and successfully punctured the brain, I got my level up.
[Level up! 10 > 11]
[Magic 65 > 70]
[Physical 13 > 23]
[Dexterity 26 > 36]
[Resistance 13 > 18]
"Yep, this is expected." Scanning the notifications pretty much confirmed what I have always been thinking, that I'll only get 5 stats on my [Resistance] and [Magic] while [Physical] and [Dexterity] get 10 each.
Assuming that I had the highest affinity possible for physical and magic before level 10, I'd be able to get 20 stats each every time I level up.
No one can achieve that though, or at least it should be impossible, however it is hinted in Firelight Chronicles that the reason why Ifera is so powerful is because she has a high affinity for those two things.
How she managed to achieve it is a mystery, also I'm pretty sure that Ifera was born with those things already in place. Which is insane.
Okay, with my latest level up, I am now able to access more blueprints than before. Some of them are related to scrolls and I can make magical traps as well, which is definitely gonna be useful.
And not to mention, I can make powerful enchanted items by turning them into traps for magical energy. I still need a mechanism in the item to store this energy in but monster cores should be able to do that just fine.
My lips curved into a smile, then it turned into soft chuckles, and soon enough I was laughing maniacally. I knew that the potential of a class that builds things is pretty high, of course it would be, building things is the reason why humanity is as dominant as a species.
But for it to be this powerful? Oh, this world wouldn't even know what hit it!
"Conquering that dungeon in a few years shouldn't be as impossible anymore with this." Who would have thought that my class would be this powerful?! I can't wait to use this to its full potential. "I'll need to make a lot of money if I want to do that, though."
And now I'm back in the real world again, where the only thing stopping me from making a full on death trap are my finances.
