Thirty-Four

  POV Thomas Fenris

When my son Wilson came into the house babbling like a panicking Bibarel about some older person holding an Umbreon approaching him and his sister on the beach, I was skeptical. I've never heard of anyone crazy enough to actually walk around with an Umbreon let alone be carrying one around. Normally I wouldn't punish the boy, but he left his sister on the beach with a potentially suspicious individual. Depending on what state I find little Vivi in will determine how harsh I'll have to punish him. I grabbed my Rhyperior's Pokéball and headed for the beach as fast as I could. What I found when I got there had me staring in disbelief.

Holy Arceus that's a Tyranitar! What in the creator's name is a Tyranitar doing here?! I couldn't comprehend it, but the sound of my daughter's giggles and happy voice was not what I expected to hear let alone see the fact she's building a giant sandcastle with the huge, armored Pokémon. A Pokémon I remembered seeing one rip apart several Rhydon one of them being one I'd owned when I was a younger man, single handedly. But here one was, sitting in the sand next to his little Vivi building a fucking sandcastle. A fucking monster was next to his little girl. No, I wasn't going to allow this. Not in my lifetime. Hell no. My voice goes cold and raw. That thing didn't belong here.

  "Rhyperior, go!"

  POV Lazarus

Things were going great, Tyranitar was overjoyed at the idea of playing with the little girl who introduced herself as Victoria, but she likes Vivi better. Vivi bounced up and down like a hyperactive Spoink when Tyranitar appeared. They got along quickly when Vivi asked her to play in the sand with her. Tyranitar sat down and watched what Vivi was doing before getting a small explanation from me on what she was doing. Tyranitar didn't know exactly what a castle looked like, but she did her best to follow Vivi's directions to make a structure by compressing the sand with some help from Glimmer. Glimmer spat water occasionally which helped with the packing of the sand at Vivi's asking. It was adorable and I took plenty of pictures with my phone.

The structure looked pretty good, and it occurred to me that I should probably take Tyranitar to the Desert Resort and the Relic Castle. Perhaps she'd like to see the place considering she made her previous nest next to the resting place of Regirock. Relic Castle is one of those places connected to the ancient past of Pokémon. If he recalled right, it was the resting place of Volcarona in the game, and while it isn't a Legendary Pokémon that one was really powerful. It might be a match for Tyranitar if she had a desire to battle. Food for thought at a different time though.

I was just about finished brushing the sand out of Umbreon's fur because she'd started to pout. When the sound of a Pokéball popping open reached my ears. I wasn't the only one who noticed though. Tyranitar's head snapped to the left and something sounding like confusion came from her. I wasn't entirely sure, but the sudden shift of Tyranitar getting to her feet and knocking down the sandcastle had my body moving before I could really think about it. I had sprung up from my spot tackling Vivi as far as I could away.

The sound of compressed air, then a sound of splitting rock, and then it felt like something hit me in the leg, but I shook off the feeling. I looked up and the panicked face of Vivi was what I saw. I turned my head towards where the attack had come from to see Tyranitar there and she was pissed. I couldn't see around her, but whatever was there and attacked it wasn't bigger or stronger than her, of that I was confident. They just pushed the fuck around and find out button and with Tyranitar, pushing that button when a child is involved? I fear for whoever just did that. I start to move to stand when Vivi rushed over and put her hands on my shoulders. I hissed because she failed to stop me before the pain registered. Yeah, that really fucking hurts.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

"N-No don't move, your leg... it has a sharp rock in the back of it." Vivi's voice came out shaky and upset and it took a deep breath to keep myself from looking at where the pain is coming from. I turned my head and saw Umbreon with a look that could only be classified as murderous on her usually gentle face. I could feel it she was just as mad as Tyranitar if not worse. I reached out for her, and she moved over pressing her head into my hand. I could at least keep her calm for the moment. I knew Tyranitar could fight for herself without my input so I would stay out of it the best I could. I was however without a means to stand. I had a few options at this point but two of them might make the situation worse and one of them I am certain after the battle on the ship is a battle junkie. What I wouldn't give for a Pokémon who could stand on two legs and could carry me away from this right now.

"Vivi, I need you to get Glimmer and move as far away as possible. On my belt is an empty Pokéball put Glimmer inside and run away. I don't know what's going on but it's not safe here. Go up those stairs and get an adult to call Officer Jenny." The girl seemed more than just a little spooked, but she moved even if she was shaking a lot. An angry roar had my head snapping back towards Tyranitar who was in the process of lifting a... HOLY FUCK IS THAT A RHYPERIOR!?

The Pokémon was huge, but it didn't square up well against Tyranitar. The drill like horn of Rhyperior was spinning and it was clearly well trained as it was fighting to stay on the ground where it had any kind of advantage and had tried to gore Tyranitar with its horn from what I could guess. Probably the move Drill Run if I had a guess. Tyranitar had somehow stopped them and lifted them off the ground. With two heavy steps she slammed the Rhyperior into the water face first. It made me wince as that was not exactly deep water. Yes, there was water, but it was hardly even the depth of a kiddie pool. The Rhyperior however wasn't deterred however as the odd tail came around and smacked Tyranitar across the face. The strike actually staggered her as the other Pokémon got out of its precarious and compromised position.

I shifted and hissed as the pain in my leg flared. I turned my head to Umbreon and she had her teeth clamped on the strap of my bag and had dragged in over to me. "That's my brave girl." I winced at the effort of shifting onto my side and starting to dig through my bag for the medical kit I had. It was for Pokémon mostly but some of the stuff could be used for humans, and I still had leftover bandages from when I was taking care of Umbreon's paws. it would have to do even if the battle not too far away had started to escalate.

I glanced up from my own basic medical treatment which was grabbing hold of a fractured stake of rock stabbed through my calf at a diagonal. I hissed again with my other hand holding a bottle of antiseptic. I couldn't even begin to contemplate how much I wanted to throw up right at this moment, but I glanced at Tyranitar who just got punched in the face and the hyper beam she was about to fire point blank just cut a line into the ocean splitting the water like the Red Sea. I used that moment to close my eyes and yank the oversized rock splinter out and pouring the burning liquid on the wound before stuffing it with a clean sock drenched in antiseptic. I had to bite into my arm to keep from screaming. I wrapped the wound the best I could.

I heard a wail of sirens in the distance, coming closer and did my best to tie the bandages as tight as I could. It would have to be enough until help got here. I just had to keep calm and move further from the combat area. Tyranitar definitely wasn't losing but she was clearly positioning herself to keep the Rhyperior from getting past her to myself.

I zipped up my bag and pulled on one strap. I shook my head and grabbed a ball off my belt. I couldn't tell which one I grabbed. My thoughts were getting a bit sluggish, but when the ball popped open Absol stared back at me with a look of alarm on his face. "Hey, bud.... think you can help me walk?" The Absol twitched at the sounds of battle and his eyes moved to it, but he listened and lowered himself letting me grab hold. I was on my feet and moving to a safe distance away.
